"Lost" TV Show - Currently Season 2 (US aired)

He looks the same..

I dont think it gotta to do with anything..

you must be blind then; his haircut is shorter in the 'older' one, he has grey hairs in the newer one.....and the main thing i noticed was that the whole style of filming was made to look older in the videotape one.

there is a going theory that the film from the pearl hatch is actually earlier than the one they saw in the swan hatch. this is because dr wickman is normal in the pearl hatch film, but dr candle (same guy) in the swan hatch film has a prosthetic arm and mentions that the button must be pushed because of an incident.

the pearl hatch film never says that the "test of faith" was pushing the button, it was unclear about that.

Couldn't have been that much earlier, even if the 1980 at the end of both videos was false on one of them, since VHS only started in 1976.

Pearl video: 1980

Swan Video: 1985

You've got a point there but it isn't really what i meant... the least they could do is to talk about following the tube, tell us its blocked with a brick wall, try to pull it ,giggle it, try to figure out where its going... not IGNORING it and give it a 2 second look...if they would give us a reason why they can't follow the tube i would keep my mouth shut but they didn't spend on it any time..

why would they spend any time on it?

its under ground...they're underground....the tubes run underground...there's no way for them to follow it so it seems pointless to worry about it...

But why was the "earlier" version of the doctor on a newer video format (VHS) and the "older" version of the doctor on a older format (Tape player). Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Remember that there's quite a bit of magnetism in the Swan hatch. Magnetism that could perhaps wreak havoc with magnetic data storage.

Did it ever occur to you that since they are at least 10 feet underground in this new hatch that it would be almost impossible to find out where the tube goes? Think about it, the tube goes up to the roof and that's it. Where are they supposed to look next? It's kinda hard to dig a 10 foot deep trench in the jungle without a backhoe. ;)

to only back up your point, it's a lot deeper than 10ft. at one point they show both eko and locke on the ladder going down into the hole. if both men are approximatly 6ft each, with the gap of say a foot between them, that's already 13ft. once they got into the perl hatch, the roof was probly at least 10ft and also not the ground directly above so they are probly more like 30 to 50ft or more under ground making it very difficult to follow any burried tube.

Hmmm...ok, I'm convinced.

Definitely looks like 1980 at the end of both to me.

Hmmm... looks like you're right. I wonder, then, if maybe they both were made in 1980, but the pearl was when things were fine and the swan after the "incident".

Microsoft still puts a copyright date of 1985 on Windows, who's not to say that Dharma didn't do the same thing. Made in 1985, or whenever, but put the copyright date when Dharma first got their copyright

If you watch the promo for next week episode, it looks like there is a lot of light when all the losties look. So given the fact that Eko now thinks it is very important to push the button and no one does actually push it(you heard the count down at the end of alst weeks episode and no one was moving to push the button) the light is probably a result of some magnetic effect that was being surpressed.

In the last episode i was pretty convinced that they will found out that Michael was the killer. when Eko and Locke watched jack on the TV in the new hatch, i was hoping that this place also records all the action ... guess not

Probably not since I doubt they had any digital recording setup in there and if there was any VHS recording system, any tape they put in there would be full up before the Losties even set foot on the island since it's been years since anyone was in there.

And to further confound the timestamping of the logs, I looked back and found one that is at, for example, 922117:05

Pretty good episode. The season is starting to hot up now, although I do think LOST has lost (ha ha funny pun) some of it's magic in recent times. Although I still love it.

The preview for next week's episdoe looks pretty good as well, I wonder what they see? Im amazed at all the things that interlink in LOST, brilliant writing.

Well since Henry's already mentioned it: Hanso himself is on the island, and appears to be connected with the Others. Henry says how their "leader" is a "great man", but "not a forgiving man", and also hints at Hanso. Also, the dude with the beard quoted Hanso, and called him a "greater man", meaning that they are probably affiliated. I mean, a bunch of guys and girls, all respecting Hanso, on an island practically occupied by Dharma sort of suggests the Others work for Dharma. Not to mention the dude with the beard in the Dharma hatch.

For some reason, though, they value Walt. Now, perhaps its because he's an interesting test subject (they can test the effects of growing up in their environment, and the psychological stuff), but maybe its something else. I'm leaning towards the idea that the entire island - others included, are part of a Dharma test. Maybe to test human nature, and how, for example:

- the losties elected a leader, Jack

- hostilies and rivalry for leadership between Jack and Locke

- importance of faith: Ecko, Charlie

- explored, found armaments. Killed each other

- trying to raise an army and attack the other tribe - "the Others"

- found a hatch. Found a button. Needed a purpose, started pushing it.

It's an interesting test of psychology. Also worth noting is that there is a radio tower on the island (remember, from S1?) yet Sayid found it difficult to get radio signals. On an island that size, there should be no problem, even with mountains. Maybe the researchers are watching it all, and reporting back to Dharma HQ on an unusual frequency band.

Also: how are the researchers always gone when the losties get there? Since the swan screen was the only one working, they must have been watching the hatch since desmond was there, yet it looks abandoned for far longer. I'm not going to get into all the time travel stuff here, but its odd. Perhaps, when Kelvin left Desmond in the jungle, Kelvin went to the Pearl and was spying on Desmond.

I'm a little disappointed that the black smoke, wire on the beach, and concrete with magnetic thing behind it, have all been largely ignored recently.

EDIT: Perhaps the show itself is a psychological experiment. How long will people keep pushing the button? Why will they do it?

They'll do it forever. Because they need faith, and they need to believe something spectacular will happen, even though it looks like it never will. Why do we keep watching Lost?

Micheal is really an other I think.

no. I think he is on drugs or something else. He is not an other because in the 1st place, he wont risk his own child building a ship and then get his child captured by the others. And until now we didnt see an others flashback, dont we?.

Don't you see? the whole series is about science vs faith...

The black smoke has been ignored for some reason and I doubt it has anything to do with Dharma, I guess something happened as we know there is a huge EM generating device on the island.

In the last episode John and Eko represent faith once more, even though John lost it for a while, I think there's some hidden motive by the writers to demonstrate us how folish some faith can be yet as we remember John and Eko are the only 2 to face the black smoke .

Is the black smoke a creation of Dharma? or is the reason why Dharma left? hmmmm

    • Microsoft further improving Windows 11 Taskbar with latest builds by Sayan Sen Microsoft has released new Windows 11 builds for users flighting the Experimental channels. The new builds are 26300.8758 for Windows 11 26H2, 28120.2374 for 26H1, and 29617.1000 for future platforms. There are improvements related to the Taskbar, File Explorer and more with the new update. The full changelogs are given below: First we have the build 26300.8758: Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out [Taskbar] Taskbar customization just got easier. As we continue to make improvements to the Taskbar experience mentioned last month, we've introduced a dedicated Taskbar Size setting, making it simpler to find, understand, and personalize your ideal taskbar experience. UI showing the new Taskbar Size setting in Settings. We've also made refinements to the transitions between taskbar sizes for a smoother overall experience. [File Explorer] We've improved the reliability of thumbnail previews for cloud files in the Details pane. The pane has also been reorganized so file properties are easier to find and review at a glance. Fixed an issue where the OneDrive shortcut in File Explorer stops working when File Explorer is run in administrative mode. Fixed an issue where the confirmation dialog might display an internal Recycle Bin file name instead of the original file name when permanently deleting a file. [Sounds] Improved system sounds when using Windows in dark mode. Up next we have build 28120.2374: Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes [Mobile Device Settings] You can add and manage your mobile devices in Settings under Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devices. On this page, you can manage features such as using your device as a connected camera or accessing your device's files in File Explorer. [Remote Recovery Management] Added a recovery remote management plug-in to extend WinRE management capabilities for MDM providers. [Input] The emoji panel (Windows key + period (.)) now uses GIPHY as the GIF provider, delivering a smoother GIF browsing and sharing experience following the deprecation of the Tenor API. Finally we have the changelog for Windows 11 build 29617.1000: Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out [Windows Update] As announced in the Windows Update announce blog, we are now bringing a new unified update experience to reduce the number of reboots you see per month. We are starting by coordinating driver, .NET, and firmware updates to align with the monthly quality update, reducing the update experience to a single monthly restart. See the blog for more information. [Windows Magnifier] Magnifier now gives you more control over how you zoom. You can type an exact zoom percentage directly in the magnifier toolbar to land on precisely the level you need. We've also added preset step increments (5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, and 400%) to the Settings dropdown, so you can jump to common levels in a single click. Whether you need a subtle boost or a dramatic close-up, Magnifier adapts to how you want to zoom. Enter an exact percentage or jump to preset steps —5% up to 400%. Feedback: Share your thoughts in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Accessibility > Magnifier. [Accessibility] We're introducing screen tint, a new accessibility setting that applies a color overlay across your entire display, softening its intensity so it's easier on your eyes throughout the day. If bright, saturated screens leave you with tired or sensitive eyes by the end of a long session, screen tint can help. Screenshot showing UI for screen tint in Accessibility, with color presets and a strength slider. To get started, open Settings > Accessibility (or press WIN + U) and look for screen tint under the Vision section. From there, you can: Pick from six preset colors or choose a custom color of your own. Adjust the tint strength slider from a subtle wash to full intensity. Night light warms your display to reduce blue light that can interfere with sleep. Screen tint reduces overall screen intensity to ease eye fatigue and light sensitivity during the day. They tackle different problems and you can use both at the same time, one working on warmth and the other on intensity. Note that turning on screen tint will disable color filters, and vice versa. If you currently rely on color filters, you might need to keep screen tint turned off. Feedback: Share your thoughts in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Accessibility > Narrator. [Voice Access] Voice Access now supports Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), and Korean (South Korea). [Audio] Continuing our work on improving Sound Settings, we've made a few more updates in this build: We've adjusted the description text for the Allow option in properties for audio devices to include the current state of the device, to improve the clarity of the text and the purpose of the button actions. "Listen to this device" is now available in properties for audio devices, so you don't need to enter Control Panel for this functionality. [Multiple Desktops] Improved explorer reliability when switching between multiple desktops. [Storage] We've updated the dialog when creating a Dev Drive to now support specifying the size in GB instead of only MB. This has also been added when changing the size of volumes under Settings > System > Storage. [Personalization] This update improves color selection accuracy when adjusting your accent color to match your wallpaper when automatic accent color selection is enabled in Personalization settings. This update improves wallpaper persistence reliability across restarts and upgrades, including better support for large-resolution wallpapers and other scenarios to prevent solid color wallpaper fallback. [Display and Graphics] Improves the reliability and persistence of applying color profiles. You can view the official blog posts here (link1, link2, link3) on Microsoft's site.
