"Lost" TV Show - Currently Season 2 (US aired)

Recommended Posts

After rewatching the special with scenes from the first 10~ episodes from season 2, some things don't seem right to me:

- In episode 3, desmond says that when he arrived in the island, kelvin came to him, saying "hurry! hurry!"... From what we saw in the finale, he was barely conscious and was carried by several people.

- The orientation video says "Do not attempt to use the computer for anything else than entering the code". We don't get to see what happens when you use the computer to communicate with the outside world (as Michael did), and the computer is now destroy. Maybe Kate/Jack/Sawyer will be taken to the same place Walt was and we may see the computer walk used... but that mystery remains unsolved.

- Why did the plane split in 2?

Great article: top 10 moments on LOST this season

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12959716/

#1 is a great point that no one here has brought up. You can throw out half of the theories right there because of it.

I think the French Lady made a deal with Henry to setup the "capture" in exchange for reuniting with her daughter (which I think we all agree is the young gal with the Others).

Why would she shoot him with the arrow then? Pretty risky thing to do....

where would these girls come from?

At the Other's true home (whereever it is)?

Michael is a bit of a bitch with the whole "they took my sooooooooooonnnnnnnnn!", it's getting kind of annoying and he killed two people and betrayed his friends just to get Walt back. He could of just waited or thought it through a bit more.

You probably would done the SAME thing if YOUR kids are kidnapped!

some spoilers..

probably not true..but hey..

SEASON FINALE AFTERMATH ? SEASON THREE OPENER

1. HATCH

All are alive.

Desmond is 99% O.K. (shell-shocked, for lack of a better word), Locke is injured, but ultimately fine, Eko on the other hand is substantially injured (incapacitated), but his injuries are NOT life threatening (badly broken limb etc. likely too be trapped under something). The hatch is completely crippled, structurally squashed. The opening episode of the new series will be focused around trying to get the three out of the Hatch. They realise that they are trapped, by which time Charlie and others have come to investigate, thus ensuing a rescue operation. It is during this rescue operation that we will begin too meet other castaways, i.e. NEW characters.

These characters are in the process of being cast at the moment, but rough story arcs have been created to accommodate TWO NEW MALE and TWO NEW FEMALE characters.

The rescue party will be lead by Charlie, Rose and Bernard. Rose and Bernard will be asserting themselves a lot more in the absence of Jake, Kate, and Sawyer.

2. JIN, SUN AND SAYID

They search for Hurley, Jake, Kate, and Sawyer, with no luck, until Jin and Sun convince a desperate Sayid to return to the beach.

3. JACK, KATE, SAWYER AND HURLEY

This is an issue that is very far from being finalised, but we are incredibly unlikely to see them in the season opener (ex. Hurley). There is also a strong possibility that we will barley, if at all see them till later on in the season, as there is a strong desire to keep as much of the mystery that surrounds the ?others?, as possible.

Hurley will return to the beach at the end of the opener.

FLASHBACKS

The flashback for the season opener has yet to be decided. The hope is for it to be one of the newly introduced castaways but this is dependant on casting. Another possibility is flashbacks for Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, without showing them in real time.

Kelvin and Libby WILL appear in more flashbacks, supposedly in the early part of the season.

Walt WILL get his own flashback this season, but likely to be in the second half of the season.

We have not seen the last of Walt and Michael.

those spoilers are obviously BS as it talks about not seeing Jack, Kate, Sawyer because of keeping the others all secret yet the people who make the show have already stated the next season will be very "others" heavy...

and they've also discussed that they would lay off on the flashbacks a little bit yet these "spoilers" discuss flashbacks like they're still going to be in every episode...

sorry...that's not a spoiler up there...its a "foiler"

ok i am really suprised no one has even thought that the hatch door might not of been their hatch door. its a door with no distinguishing marks, so whos to say its not from another hatch near by or a hatch for where the EMP was being built up.

I thought this, too, and checked: the "quarantine" marking and orientation is identical to the one we saw earlier at the Swan.

Yey, it seems my prediction was right...kinda: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...#entry587203429

Also Desmond can't be dead, afterall he did say "say you in another life brother", just as he went into the floor.

Nice prediction (Y)

i want to know what that flash was damn it!

Indeed.

Just realized something: Sonya Walger, the actress who plays Desmond's girlfriend, looks a bit like a mix between Carmen Electra and Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor from Terminator 2) :shiftyninja:

He definitely said it, I watched it again, and it was clear as day.

I think the birds and polar bears and stuff are victims of the dharma initiative, and may end up helping the LOSTies one way or another.

BTW, looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way back:

The thing that killed the pilot: it wasn't the black smoke, right? I mean, that black smoke that Eko saw sure wasn't the stomping jungle thing... or was it?

Whats everyone thoughts on the bird saying Hurleys name?

I think it's another one of those polar bear things the writers included just for the hell of it. It seems like half of this stuff will be unexplained...or explained much later. Gotta love it, though.

The thing that killed the pilot: it wasn't the black smoke, right? I mean, that black smoke that Eko saw sure wasn't the stomping jungle thing... or was it?

The appearances of the "black smoke" or the tree-crushing/chomping, pilot-eating creature, to my knowledge:

1. On the first night as everyone hears it from the beach

2. When the pilot is lifted and they are running in the jungle

3. A few times throughout season 1 like during Boone's "delusion"

4. Season 1 finale (first "appearance" of the cloud)

5. Eko and Charley during the Eko backstory

There seems to be no pattern or interval. :pinch:

I think it's because hurley's name is the least obvious one...

i mean, a bird screaming "SAWYER" is hard to ignore, right?

But, if you have a bird that sounds like it might be screeching.....

BTW, just realized it, if 99% of the people on the Island don't know Sawyer's real name, how the f**** did that black woman know it?

    • NASA: This asteroid may not kill us but it probably won't be far off either by Sayan Sen Image by Zelch Csaba via Pexels New observations by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have eliminated the last remaining impact threat posed by asteroid 2024 YR4, ruling out the possibility that the near-Earth object could strike the Moon in December 2032. NASA said observations collected by Webb on February 18 and 26, 2026, enabled scientists to refine the asteroid's orbit enough to "rule out a chance of lunar impact on Dec. 22, 2032." Instead, asteroid 2024 YR4 is now expected to pass the Moon at a distance of about 13,200 miles (21,200 km). The agency stressed that the update "reflects improved precision in our understanding of where the asteroid is expected to be in 2032 rather than a shift in its orbital path." The announcement closes a remarkable chapter in planetary defence that began in late 2024, when the approximately 60-metre-wide asteroid briefly became the most closely watched near-Earth object in the world. Discovered on December 27, 2024, by the ATLAS telescope in Chile, 2024 YR4 initially appeared to have a small chance of colliding with Earth on December 22, 2032. As astronomers gathered more observations, the impact probability briefly climbed to around 3%—the highest ever recorded for an asteroid of its size—before steadily falling as its orbit became better understood. By early 2025, international observations had ruled out any significant risk to Earth. However, astronomers were left with another possibility: a roughly 4% chance that the asteroid could instead strike the Moon. "The probability that asteroid 2024 YR4 will strike the Moon on 22 December 2032 is now approximately 4%," the European Space Agency (ESA) had said last year, noting that "there is a 96% chance that the asteroid will not impact the Moon." ESA said such an impact, while unlikely, would have presented an extraordinary scientific opportunity. "It is a very rare event for an asteroid this large to impact the Moon – and it is rarer still that we know about it in advance. The impact would likely be visible from Earth, and so scientists will be very excited by the prospect of observing and analysing it," said Richard Moissl, Head of ESA's Planetary Defence Office. "It would certainly leave a new crater on the surface. However, we wouldn't be able to accurately predict in advance how much material would be thrown into space, or whether any would reach Earth," he added. The asteroid also exposed an important blind spot in planetary defence. Because 2024 YR4 approached Earth from the direction of the Sun, it remained hidden from ground-based telescopes until after its closest approach. "We looked into how Neomir would have performed in this situation, and the simulations surprised even us," Moissl said. "Neomir would have detected asteroid 2024 YR4 about a month earlier than ground-based telescopes did. This would have given astronomers more time to study the asteroid's trajectory and allowed them to much sooner rule out any chance of Earth impact in 2032." He added, "As an infrared telescope, like Webb, Neomir would have also immediately given us a much better estimate for the asteroid's size, which is very important for assessing the significance of the hazard." The latest NASA observations underscore the value of space-based infrared telescopes in tracking faint asteroids. According to NASA, Webb made "among the faintest ever observations of an asteroid," extending the object's observational record by nearly eight months at a time when it had become too faint for other telescopes. That additional data allowed scientists to eliminate the remaining uncertainty surrounding its 2032 flyby. Although asteroid 2024 YR4 is now confirmed to pose no threat to either Earth or the Moon, scientists say its discovery remains one of the most significant real-world tests of the international planetary defence system, demonstrating how continued observations can rapidly transform an object once considered hazardous into one whose future path is known with high confidence.
