Do you think Penelope's rich father set Desmond up with Libby giving him a boat and them trapping him on the island on purpose to keep him away from Penelope? I believe her father has a lot to do with the people running that project.

Penelope probably suspected her father was instrumental in keeping them apart, she knew about the Dharma project (from her fathers involvement) with researching electromagnetic anomalies around the world, so she paid those two guys to sit around and wait for the detection of the electromagetic anomaly so she could find him again.

Libby being an agent of Penelope's father: setting up Desmond with the boat, and also following Hurley after he won the lottery with the numbers is an interesting possibility.

I think libby is responsible for some of the people being present on the island.. she was in a mental institution, the hanso foundation has a project that helps the mentally ill.

So maybe she got better and now, in return, is (was) helping the hanso foundation

What about the Others town?, why was it deserted?, and that Dharma door leads nowhere, is it all a stage???, maybe the others do live in a Dharma station.

I thought was pretty obvious with the fake beard and the fake camp, yes..

ugh...anyone in this thread should have seen the finale already, but i'll use the spoiler tag regardless i guess

- 4 toed statue foot: WTF? Why would there be a statue on the island at all, let alone one with four toes. Hanso's image of the next evolution of man? It's commonly debated that the 5th toe is pretty much vestigial at this point and would eventually disappear as humans continue to evolve, and Hanso seems pretty involved in the betterment of man as a species through all his experiments and testing. Perhaps he's trying to force evolution? Or perhaps the statue was of Hanso himself, and he's from the future?

- Hatch system shutdown: It seems that Desmond shutting down the hatch sent a huge EM wave, repulsing everything away from it, hence the hatch door flying all the way to the beach. Also explains the ability of the two guys in the arctic hut to detect it. But the question remains, how are Desmond, Locke and Eko affected? Wasn't Charlie in or extremely close to the hatch when Desmond turned the key? There was maybe 30 seconds from the time Eko broke away from Charlie to the time the key was turned and everything went white.

- The Others: I believe Henry when he says they're the good guys. Or, more to the point, I believe that he believes it, they all do. My opinion is that the Others are doing what they think is the right thing, trying to save those that are 'worthy', or in the case of Walt, useful. I think season 3 will show the Others showing Jack, Kate and Sawyer the light and turning them to their cause. Those three will then attempt to bring the rest of the losties on board as well against a larger enemy, which I believe is Dharma itself. I think the Others are a splinter group that did at one time work for Dharma but broke away when those running Dharma got out of control. Still doesn't really explain why they put on the fake appearance of a bunch of hut dwellers. And pretending to be guarding a hatch of their own doesn't seem to make any sense right now either.

- Penny: She said so herself. "With enough money, you can find anybody." Obviously, she's using her resources to track down Desmond. The question is, how does she know to look for EM anomalies? The only answer I can think of is that she has some knowledge of the Dharma work going on at the island. Possibly through her father, or possibly through sheer expenditure of time and money in research.

- Libby: Now we know that she had contact with Desmond and Hurley before the crash. As others mentioned, her dead husband was Dave and Hurley's imaginary friend was Dave. Since she didn't seem crazy before or after her time in the hospital, I think it can be assumed that she was faking it, and following Hurley for some reason. She also made initial contact with Desmond, by offering to pay for his drink, or snack, or whatever he was buying. I'd suggest she was a 'recruiter', but there are a few problems there. One, she was on the plane. Two, the plane was not brought down on purpose, as evidenced by Desmond's flashback. At least not obviously on purpose.

- Michael & Walt: I don't think we've seen the end of them yet. I think season 3 will follow them as they attempt to leave the island. Perhaps they will find rescue and we'll see what Michael does, or perhaps they won't find rescue and they wind up back at the island again.

- Calvin: This time, a connection to Sayid. Calvin was the American military officer that forced Sayid to torture his comrade, and then dropped him off in the middle of Iraq. Why he decided to go to work for Dharma, or if that's even the truth, is debatable, but his connection to a lostie is interesting.

this is what i think.........

First off libby wasant part of this and did not know. she was on the place just like anyone else on the island we have seen from the crash was.

now the OTHERS are simple they are Actors and are on contract with dhram ..

and i think the rest will be seen next year.

I also have an uneasy feeling about the general reception to the upcoming season. Some responses to the finale began to remind me of the Matrix trilogy.

The first Matrix movie was pretty widely acclaimed as a sci-fi gem. Each successive sequel was received with less positive praise than the previous film. While some say "they just sucked", I think it was more than that. When you watch the Matrix, it's the beginning to a story. The options are endless as to where the story could go. The fan's mind is going to map out all these possibilities and find the ones that he likes. When the sequels came out and the story actually chose one path, it inevitably alienated many fans. No matter what path the story took, fans wouldn't have been pleased. Particular fans may have, if the chosen storyline meshed with their own desires, but as a group, fandom would have been disappointed.

I think the same might happen with Lost. With the inhernet open endedness of the series, rumors and theories fly across the internet lightning fast. Just look at the number of websites dedicated to trying to figure out what's going on. The problem here is, people are picking the theories they like and hope that they are correct. When the series does start to take a direction, as it did with the season finale, only a minute few probably came even close to guessing what would happen, and I doubt anyone was remotely correct on all counts. Thi si sgoing to cause people to dislike where the show is going, not because it's a bad story, but because it's not their story.

Me, I'm not trying too hard to figure it out, and I'll judge the show based on its own merits, not whether the answers are the ones i want or not. I just hope others do the same.

Here it goes....

1. The two russians dude in the arctic, possibly antartica. Were put there by Ms. Widmore. Why? We are to believe that it is to find desmonde, but how would should know to find him that way? I do not believe she is looking for him now. I believe it is 1 of many scenario's

a. For some reason she is alone when the call is made. What happen to her fiance/husband? Since she is alone, i believe that she is trying to find her dad or even the lost city of atlantis. If her father was apart of dharma and in her mind was lost.. She would have to find him, bring him home.

b. Her pop Charles, is dead, she took over the family business, dealing with electromagnetic stuff. Possible an anomal is coming from that region, but can't be perfectly pinpointed.

Some other ideas that explain things.

1. The statue foot- first time i saw it, reminded me of the heels of hercules, or something like that, where it is written that beyond the statue you would find atlantis. Or something like that. The foot, was wearing a sandal that appeared to be of ancient greece. Why have a sandle on?

It is also rumored that "atlantis" has a renewable power source unlike anything we are familiar with. Maybe that was the electomagnet.

2. Maybe what was behind the wall was like the engine of the "event horizon". just throwing it out there.... something that manipulates time and space, magnetic.

3. The ferry- To me, the ferry is obviously going to another island, or another part where the factories are, and the utopian society. If we watch the first orientation video you see glimpses of it.

4. the bird thing- def. gene therapy, trying to make dinosaur type animals with human intelligence. The bird definently says "hurley" in a bloodcurdling voice".

Just some ideas.. the white light was def. an emp. or possible radiation blast to neutralize the magnet.

5. The electro magnet is not a magnet at all. It is a blackhole. A blackhole that was in a controlled environment. Matter manipulation.

WHAT REALLY DOESN"T MAKE SENSE---

The ship.. the old ship in the jungle... if the magnet brought down the airplane, why didn't it destroy or totally brake the ship? there was plenty of chains and metal objects in the ship.

Also, i don't believe the hatch door was blown to the beach because of what desmonde did. I think it was from when the dynamite blew.

4x15x16x23x42 = the number on the computer screen that the russians guys see.

I dont think the last thing was about Penny looking for Desmond. We know that the Hanso foundation is doing research into electromagnetism and the link between Hanso and Penny's father, the last scene was probably about Penny's work at Hanso looking for specific type of EM.

Best post ever....

And i do think that is what is gonna happen with Lost (its happening already, with the whole Electromagnetism pulling the plane...),

BTW, i like the entire Matrix Trilogy, even tho i did had theories of my own i ended up appreciating the path that it took...

Do you think Penelope's rich father set Desmond up with Libby giving him a boat and them trapping him on the island on purpose to keep him away from Penelope?

thats pretty fair, and it would work

Ok, these are some of the questions I've come up with from the finale:

1. Desmond's wife - I guess she used her money to pay some people to look for electromagnetic anomalies to try to find Desmond?

What do you guys think?

And I wonder how in the world someone will spend money to trace someone using as clue a magnetic anomaly. And I insist, to me the whole show is an screensaver on a kid how in the 23th century

Amazing episode

Anyone notice how, on thehansofoundation.org's executive bios, Peter Thomson has got letters flashing on his picture. I make out (S?) U V G.

And I hope you noticed that the Electromagnetism page on the HF's site shows a picture for October 62, 9291, and has coordinates for your mouse cursor there. (0,0) doesn't seem to do anything though...

Also, I think the two guys are in iceland...

"Practical experience providing care for highly-gifted and highly unstable minds is essential, as well as fluency in Eastern European languages and a working knowledge of applied mathematics. " - Dharma Careers

fluency in EE languages <-> russian paper. Highly unstable mind <-> leonard? mathematics <-> the numbers?

numbers?

at first, I thought its about the date 1929 October 26, but I tried the coordinate x: 629, y : 291

If you point the compass at 108 degree, a image pops up, click on 108, a terminal will pop up and it will lead you to a a series of folders

we already solved the let your compass guide you stuff a few pages back

once you go to ahanso, click on the electromagnetic research initiative, and view the source of the webpage you get this

http://www.djdan.am

go there and check there consperiSPY of the month.

http://www.djdan.am/conspiraspy.html

i found this right away after going to the compass site heh

lol also funny is his site timer will say OB:EY eventually and you click on it and get sent here

subLYMONal

http://www.sublymonal.com/

once you click on all the tvs in the order they tell you. you get a screen that says Code then flashes and says Heir Apparent

then click under the sublymonal and you get taken to the bios section of hansofoundation. bio is for the found. login box in the bottom right of the bio but I can't login. tried Heir Apparent with no luck
