Thanks for your contribution!! :)

Like bi11y said: use %ProgramFiles% instead off C:\\Program Files (see Guide)

Include the line to add it to the Desktop and a reg file to remove it.

Keep 'm coming! :D

VERY much appreciated Herby, I keep a folder with backups of my website on the desktop and have been trying for awhile to get it to fit in with the rest of the icons :D.  Thanks a lot

You're welkome! :)

But say i have a custom folder id like to place them in such as F:/Applications, and is it not possible to add to y'z dock, Does ObjectDock use less memory?

585754318[/snapback]

I don't know if ObjectDock uses less memory,.. I only know that it works. :)

Try adding "::{00000000-5000-0000-0000-000000000002}" as a new dock button with Y'z Dock (it's the CLSID from the Textless My Computer).

does the recycle bin icon change when there is something in it now?  i havent been paying attention to this thread in a while...

The "Recycle Bin MUP" (Multiple User Profiles) still does'nt change the Icon, but it supports Drag & Drop now.

If you don't have Multiple User Profiles on your Computer, you can use "Add Recycle Bin.reg" which is fully functional.

i just want to add the microsoft office and the shutdown to y'z dock.. how would i go about adding the registry file to it?

(would't mind doing it for winamp/firefox/

Found a way to add the Icons with working Context Menu's to Y'z Dock without having them on the Desktop:

Edit the "Add" reg files from the Icons you want to add to Y'z Dock, go to the last line and replace

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{CLSID}]

with

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\NetworkNeighborhood\NameSpace\{CLSID}]

This will add the Icons to My Network Places instead of to the Desktop.

If you have the Icons on the Desktop, first merge the "Remove" regs and then merge the modified "Add" regs.

Now drag any shortcut to Y'z Dock and edit it (right click and select "Property of Dock Item").

To change it to for example the Office 2003 Icon, change the "Link to:" address to

::{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}\::{00000000-5070-0000-0000-000000000002}

The first part ({208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}) is the CLSID from My Network Places.

The second part ({00000000-5070-0000-0000-000000000002}) is the CLSID from the Office 2003 Icon (you can copy it from the reg file).

Dont forget to include the :: and the \ !

Clear the Work folder, change the Name and you're done! :D

I actually got it too work great.. now is it possible to get it to move to another folder such as D:/Appz rather than Network?

Sorry for the late reply,.. been a little bizzy... :)

It's only possible to add them to Virtual Folders like the Desktop, My Computer, the Control Panel, Network Neighborhood and Entire Network.

More info here...

Thanks for the contributions everyone has made, to create a really clean desktop on my PC, but I would like to make a request. Can someone create icon for Virtual Daemon Manager, with the entris for Emulation and Unload and Loading of images?

I'm a little bizzy atm but I'll look into it asap. :)

Anyone interested in a program that will create these little Gems? It is almost finished and is in beta stage. I may need beta testers in the near future. Here is a screen shot.

same i wouldnt mind testing that out, as well.

Only hard part would be finding the strings to do what you want it to..either way i want hookups :p

Sorry to say, no. It took me a while to make this and right now programming is paying my bills.

I wanted to say that if anyone whats to take a stab at making a help file (HTML format) send me a PM and you will get a free copy.

I may make it freeware in the future. I'm sure you all know how hard it is to pay bills. I agree it should be freeware, but, right now I need the money.

I hope that Herby will be mentioned somehow in the credits... come on, he is the creator of this trick.

Anyway, since it's so simple to add a Desktop Icon Without Text just downloading these regs, I don't think that make your software shareware it's a good idea...

Yes, you are right. I will add Herby in the credits (sorry Herby).

Well, the icons listed here are specific to programs, and some people do not know how to make them (I am thinking of others not on this forum). With this program ANY exe file/folder can be added not just specific to a program. There are future additions/features that will make it stand out. Anyway, not to be rude but, if you don't think it is worth it then you don't have to buy it. As I said, I need to pay bills. So it will stay shareware for now. Sorry.

I really like the program but it's too bad that it's shareware. :pinch:

I've also put alot of time in them but I'm not asking money for it (not that I can't use it).

Tbhoc is also creating a program for it but he's bizzy with another project.

    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
    • I really hope the author's health is ok. Squirreling away a official backup of this software. Looks like the internet archive already cached a copy as well - https://web.archive.org/web/20...ldbit-soft.fi/software.html
    • AMD is supported out of the box in linux because of their open source driver. Nvidia does not. All my systems are amd and all of them work nicely on linux arch without doing anything.
    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
