Hi people,

I'll show how to make ur computer get better response times and better startup. What we're going to do? Process Idle Tasks. Something that processes tasks that only load when your computer is idle (not being used). Here, at my home. the computer is always doing something but we still have to make it process the tasks.

Alright.

Go to the start menu and hit "Run".

From that menu, run the command "rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks". Just CTRL+C here and CTRL+V in the RUN window.

That will process the idle tasks that show up in C:\%systemroot%\Prefetch\Layout.ini

*%systemroot%: probably WinNT or Windows or just Win.

Note: Processing Idle Tasks WILL take a lot of CPU as the computer needs to defrag the boot sector (which is impossible in a normal defrag) and such things.

Enjoy :)

I knew something was happening as my hard drive light was on for about a minute after I executed that command.

This is not really a guide it is more a tweak (a dubious one at that)

a guide on "lightning fast Startup" should consist of a series of tweaks

aka

disable services tweak

nogui boot

timeout reduction

Faster Boot-Up without tons of fonts

classic style

Decrease system loading time by changing network settings

Enable or disable boot defrag

Bootvis

remove login

Speed up Login Process

mrxsmb.dll tweak

Speed up Login Process

IrCOMM2k.zip tweak

etc

etc

etc

etc

etc

etc

    • Honestly... 4 wasn't fun, 5 had unlikeable, annoying, or dull characters... Yeah, to me the magic died with San Andreas.
