The Cards are my second favorite team, but I have to go for the Sox this year. They made history beating those evil Yankees and they deserve to win it all!

Wow, what a great first game. I'm rooting for the Cardinals but Bellhorn with the home run was big. He hasn't done much, if anything in the post season.

Any Card fans miffed that the umpire called two strikes to end the 8th inning that were at least 6 inches off the plate? This with the bases loaded... No way we'll know what would have happened if he called them right, but still... That really sucked!

thats what its been called since it started in 1903. The National League was created in 1876 and the American League didnt come around until 1901. 2 years later the 2 league presidents agreed to let their league champions meet to determine a "world champion" .. back then i dont imagine baseball was too big in other parts of the world. it has spread since then.. and technically there is a team in canada.. but the name is never going to change.

Commissioner Bud Selig is actively working to organize a World Cup of sorts to let teams from all over the world compete, and unlike the olympics, it would be in MLB's offseason so team USA could actually use its best players.

Ortiz is the DH. So when the series goes to St. Louis, he will have to sit on the bench, unless the Sox put him on the field.

Ortiz will be playing 1st base, according to Francona. Then, if they are leading going into the 7th or 8th inning, he will remove him for Doug Mientkiewicz to give them a defensive boost. However, if he was due up in the 7th or 8th, I'm sure he would keep him in.

those 2 strikes were horrible. the first one was understandable....but the second one...was 12 inches off the plate, almost hit him!
