Tel.: +1 310 431 4000

CALL THEM AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THEIR ACTIONS!!!!

and If anyone lives in LA, go tee-pee their building and/or egg it! or write "WE WANT HALF-LIFE 2!" on the side of their building with spraypaint or something!!! REVOLT! RETAILIATE! PROTEST! BRING THEM TO SUBMISSION! WE WANT OUR GAME!!!!

Quick someone call that number and say you purchased the game just an hour ago at Best buy They have them up on the shelves and you have been contacted by friends in other states that have seen them up in other best buy stores. You puchased the game installed it and dont understand why you cant play it or get it to run.

dont get off the phone with whoever comes on unless you get a real reson why the game wont run then let them know that your extremly disapointed with their business practices if they tell you you have to wait for the 16th.

Half-Life 2 For Sale?

November 13, 2004, 4:57 pm ? valve

If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time.

Thanks for your patience and we will update you when we have more news to share.

Talk about the street date being broke... lol. There should be more severe punishments for stores that release the game before the date. It should be more of a big deal, and not just an "oh, yeah, look at this btw" kinda thing. And now that its obviously being sold at MANY places, I don't see a reason not to just release it now. But meh, its still only days before the release. Its just harder waiting that long knowing people at least HAVE the game now, even if they can't play it.

yeah but i have had the game for over a month (via steam)

Just annoys me, what is the point really? They already shipped the game to the retailers what is the harm in releasing it early? from vendi point of view.

weird

well from vendi's point of view, if it gets released early via steam, no one will buy it retail. And if no one buys it retail, they don't get any or as much money.

Steam sales = no money for Vivendi, which in a way still shouldn't be too bad with the number of people who can't/wont use steam and want a hard copy of the game in some form other than a steam backup cd. Yeah, I've also had HL2 on my hard drive for awhile now with the preload, but then again the preload still doesn't contain ALL the data the game needs to run (yet), while the retail version does.

vivendi simply sucks

without half-life 2, they should be bankrupt.

i hope the contract with them will end soon ...

Actually there was another article on gamespot about Vivendi seeing a 20% drop in revenues and that they were relying on sales of Half-Life 2 and WoW

Investors who are able to withstand the wobbliness of the third quarter could be rewarded handily, however. Two upcoming games in the VUG lineup could have a positive impact on the company's final fiscal year quarter: Half-Life 2 is due worldwide November 16; and one week later on November 23, World of Warcraft will release in the North American, Australian, and New Zealand markets.

no i am pretty sure at this point my steam dl is the same as the cd. (maybe even more if you include the recent steam updates) They just have to unlock on tues. I wont be dl any more content.

That contract is what i really hate. Vivendi has everyone by the balls there. Steam cant charge less for the game, cant release early even when the release date is broken.

Worst contract ever...

Well I just started Steam up and got a new update. I have no clue what it was for, but HL2 was not unlocked. Hmmmmm

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12. Next, the 2K Sports Champions Bundle comes touting games like NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, OlliOlli World Rad Edition, and TopSpin 2K25 with a hefty $25 price tag. Lastly, the Redline Racing Bundle is touting games like Art of Rally, Descenders, Mudrunner, and Assetto Corsa Competizione with a $10 price tag.
