6 years ... Err 4 years ago you didn't even kow Half-life 2 was in production

Didn't need to have an official announcement. There were rumors it was in production and since it was such a great game, I knew they were gonna make a sequel anyway. Not to mention the cliffhanger ending...

If you own an Nvidia Card I strongly suggest getting the new 66.93 drivers. I have a 6800GT/3.0 Ghz P4 and went from 78 to 98fps in the CS Source video stress test... must go test them out on a low spec machine sometime.

edit: lol at the "It's OPEN! Whii" post... so funny that i just had to load steam 3 times to check that it was fake, then call gabe newell at home to ask him, then yell at vivandi for making people make such reliable fakes before going back to constantly refreshing steam.

Oh so did nVidia release drivers just for HL2? :D

I hope so since HL2 is the only game I'll be getting for a little while and I'll need all the help I can get running it on an fx 5200...

hahah lol, same, we suck

why do i have such a crap card on a 3ghz machine!!

I agree mate we need a sub-forum Neowin should have its own HL2 area, nothing huge just one subforum in PC Gamer keep it open for the next 6 months or so then archive it :) or something be handy for all the inevitable "can my comp run it" , "where can i download it", "steam? how does boiling water get me halflife?" kinda questions

Dukelion fights the hazard or why not buy a ati 9600 get a decent one for ?80 now and I have to say altho I use a 9600xt 256mb its soooo good CS:S runs maxed out at silly resolutions, on a 3ghz machine you,ll notice a huge boost without having to spend nigh on ?350

Medevil - Same goes......

I just thought I'd post this little blurb about the whole Vivendi Universal not unlocking HL2 fiasco and all the crap Vavle has gotten in the past (which I blame VU for now, idiots):

November 13, 2004 - The official Steam website was just updated with a news piece that confirms VUGames are the cause for no-one being able to play Half-Life 2, despite picking it up in places like Best Buy:

If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time.

Thanks for your patience and we will update you when we have more news to share.

I think a big "**** you" just went out to Vivendi Universal Games.

Update: George Broussard of 3D Realms had this to say on Shacknews:

Hey Vivendi...seriously, **** you.

Broussard is my new hero. I mean sure we are all ****ed he hasn't released DNF, but if that man can whip out and rag on VU because HE wants to play HL2, he's my hero.

The above is from Voodoo Extreme's website. Let the VU flamewars begin. I for one will never buy another one of their games. They can kiss my ass.

Seriously tho I mean see right now at Vivendi there must be folk bombarding there inbox`s with hate mail and all sorts, I know it I mean think steam forums for starters the kids on there will love this and just go ape.

What a snyde and absolute mingful thing to do Im sorry but jeese seriously, if Id been working on a Visual Style or something for months and months or some random crap and I thought folk were uber eager I know we`d all push to get it out as fast as, just imgain how it must feel to have some ass grab you by the wrist and basically go "NO" you cannot stray from your official estimate, man Id be ****ed so ****ed.

So think how it must then feel for you to have worked on something for 5 long years poured every waking hour into it, been through an FBI investigation over theft, lost your Best mate / Co - Founder, not to mention the sleepless nights of living breathing and eating code and bug fixing , basically lived a woring day for 5years and some ###### is like well ooh I dunno I think it should be released liek this, after youve told them yeah we have this kool online system now that basically is setting a new field and technology that as a whole has been exceedinly successful, so not only have we been making this killer game but a multi million dollar delivery app, which were kindly allowing you to be a part of.

Vivendi seriosuly tho gamers are gonna just ignore Vivendi for all its worth, I mean how joyless are you when you cant open up a game 3 days early and breach your own contract if need be, and loose yourself god knows how much ??? aswell. I mean i know its only 2 days but a little treat and kindness on there part would of been nice instead of showing themselves up.

Just seems a bit silly to me, HL2 in shops / on STEAm = ???? why deny yourselfs 2 extra days over the initial launch when its there and folk are waiting

So many good games are coming out!!

Personally I am getting need for speed underground 2, and when i get bored with it - 2-3 weeks im gona get half life and play it forever. I dont want to get half life 2 first because i will play it forever and wont be able to playa ny other games :D :D

Do you think my pc will take half life2?

I think I will purchase it in store. (Id perfer having a hard back copy with a nice case then burning my own DVD of it off steam..)

I wonder when the shops in UK will let me buy it? lol

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • I've never even heard of this browser before seeing this article. How does it differ from other browsers?
    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
    • 18 months ago I bought the 4TB variant for $380 CDN. Now it is $1500 CDN [$949 US].
