no, i think that valve WASN'T expecting this demand. if the servers weren't ready to handle the amounts of demands, why was it released? or why this stupid activation thingy??? it has already been cracked. i just want to login to steam to activate or whatever... not to download the full game. I have the dvd. this can be the best game ever, but the released date will never be forgotten, not only for the good reasons .

I DON'T NEED TO GROW UP... it's the frustration .

How could they not expect this demand?

yes, offline mode.

in settings if you have "Dont save account info on this computer" enabled, offline mode wont work

if uc ant connect to steam how do u play HL2 then? offline mode (never got it to work really well)

people complain about steam all the time, just deal with it you arent the only one having problems. I think steam is great, i havent had any problems of late and its a great program maybe just not implemented correctly yet. Those who knew they were gonna purchase it off of steam why didnt you do it ahead of time and preload it before the night of the release?

Got home from work a while ago, showered, ate, and now am ready to give ol hl2 a go. I found myself saying over and over and over again while going from one section to another.. "man this sh!t spanks doom3!!!" It was definitely more than I expected. Can't say I have any let-downs what-so-ever. These guys did a Great Job and well worth the wait imo.

how could they not expect this demand, especially since its been in talked about since its been announced, pre-orderd since before the first push back, preloaded by a boat load of people way back, and people hunting all around the creation looking fora store that was selling it early. and about 30+ thousand people that bought it and CS:Source over Steam alone.

Nice I knew it would be cracked by the time I woke up this morning. Before anyone starts bitching to me about warez, it's really hard to get legit software here, so I firgure why the hell should I pay for warez when I can get it for free? Anyway my bro is going to buy me a copy in Canada and send it in a few weeks, but I can't wait that long :p

prime example of the "why do we need to activate thingy"

valve should have it en the EULA that they can format your comp if you pirate their game

I was afraid that valve or vivendi will screw everything up with the preload. I WAS WRONG. I really had great experience for the 12.00AM to now I started playing exactly at 12.12AM till 4.30AM and 9.00AM till now (4.20PM). I am on level 9 just entered Cell A. Thank you very much VALVE TEAM.

Just an FYI. Any CD Problems.... Make sure you install CS Source. Otherwise you might get a problem with the install.

I had to return a CD.

Not sure if this is posted earlier. Perhaps it can go on the start of the thread.

i believe in buying legit software ,but i should be able to play offline and not have to install steam spyware !!

Did you read a word I said in my post? I would buy it right now if I could. Just no way to get a legit copy here. Why would I pay for warez? And yes, I know I can get it off Steam, but obviously that's a problem right now and I knew it would be. Besides if i'm buying software I like to have a copy in my hands. And I've already sent my bro the money to buy ti for me, just he's busy right now and can't get it right away and as well it takes about a week to send here. So what? They should be able to format my computer because I'm temporarily pirating it because I can't get a legit copy here? That's just stipid.
