[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Well i guys i know your fustrated but come on, the patches will come out soon. Look how much patches hl1 had... it went up to 1.1.1.0 before steam right? i mean i couldnt even play quake 3 arena untill the 1.32 point release.. and thats years after the quake craze started with my old computer. the game came out today...give it a break guys :)

By the way i could be saying this because for me steam works freaking great.. 1.4 mb/s downloads are the shat!!

Hl2 is worth it guys..

everyones moaning and complaining about this activation.. but to be honest and fair for both sides, its pretty equal and good. i mean, it stops piracy straight away, and the customers who really like it will obviousely want half life 3 to come out at sometime.. so, giving em cash helps em. plus other factors are involved also.

i cant connect to steam...how can i play the single player offline??  ive already played before dinner but now steam says i cant connect :(

no problem. disconnect from the internet, then launch steam. it will ask i fyou want to play offline. say yes :)

i know its hard, im not denying that, piracy rate is to high to count in china.

Hell-in-a-handbasket, I really don't think you have any idea how hard it is to get a legit copy of a game in China. I'm Chinese myself, and although I don't live there, for the 2 months that I was back to visit a couple of years ago, I never heard of anyone buying a real copy of a game (from my relatives). There is simply no market for that kind of thing. If you actually bought a legit copy, a lot of people would think that you were retarded for wasting your money. That's the way it works over there. I think I saw one or two real copies in department stores for 400 yuan, while around the corner on every single road you have copies of any software/game that sell for 1 to 5 yuan. Things may have changed in two years, but I doubt it has changed much.

Hell ya! I totally agree with you eXsub! For a while I was sharing a key with some friends for Half-Life and CS, and DOD, etc (before Steam) and that was a pain in the ass! I ended up buying Half-Life platinum and I love it! I'm playing it through again on harder skills! It r0x0rz! ANd now that there is Steam, Its so much better! VIVA STEAM! LOL

But ya, You can still pirate games over Steam (my brother downloaded CS:Source and played it) but its not the same, and what u need to do inorder to play it on Steam is a headache in itself! Not worth it if you ask me! Valve needs the support! They are awesome

After playing for another 3 hours, I'm completely amazed. This game is incredible. The graphics are incredible. I can actually max everything out on my littled oc'ed 9600Pro at 1024*1280, and it runs smooth, and only flitters on outdoor scenes.

Now I have this problem - I really want to play it, but I don't, because I don't want there to be nothing left to play. I DON'T WANT IT TO END! :(

thats where the mods / User Maps come in.

there better be some single player maps also, id like to play around in the E3 map where they showd the big cavern witht he water hole in the middle and the grav gun

i havnt had a single problem at all with this game. it unlocked just fine, only took it like 5 mins to unlock around 3am hehe.

on my athlon xp 2400 runnin at 2.00 mhz, with 512 ram, 5700 fx ultra , it get a constant 50+ fps usually, unless its a big outdoor area, then it will drop as more and more action comes. but nothing unplayable ever. i do wish the sound problems would get fixed. either a new driver for our sound cards or something. i just hate how the sounds cuase game studdering.

but other than that, i have to give my hand to valve. this game has given me more than my moneys worth, and i havnt beat it yet. Even with all the hype around its release, i think this game still blew my mind in how u can interact with everything.

anyong who says this game sucks, needs to just quit gaming, cuase this has certainly put a new edge on fps.

If you guys are having problems with Steam, just go around the web and get the crack. I have a legitimate copy, but Steam was ****ing me off, so I took it around back and shot it dead.

However, if you're gonna play online, I suggest you backup Steam before you crack it.

And please, anyone, don't give me his "piracy is bad" bullcrap. You're just gonna make yourself look more stupid.

I literally just completed it :D An amazing game :o

    • Kdenlive 26.04.2 by Razvan Serea Kdenlive is an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It works on GNU/Linux, Windows and BSD. Through the MLT framework, Kdenlive integrates many plugin effects for video and sound processing or creation. Furthermore Kdenlive brings a powerful titling tool, a DVD authoring (menus) solution, and can then be used as a complete studio for video creation. Kdenlive supports all of the formats supported by FFmpeg or libav (such as QuickTime, AVI, WMV, MPEG, and Flash Video, among others), and also supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios for both PAL, NTSC and various HD standards, including HDV and AVCHD. Video can also be exported to DV devices, or written to a DVD with chapters and a simple menu. Video editing features: Multi-track editing with a timeline and supports an unlimited number of video and audio tracks. A built-in title editor and tools to create, move, crop and delete video clips, audio clips, text clips and image clips. Ability to add custom effects and transitions. Audio signal processing capabilities include normalization, phase and pitch shifting, limiting, volume adjustment, reverb and equalization filters as well as others. Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive. • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
    • People in the '50s and '60s had the same attitude, and we're still here over a half century later.
    • So after some fiddling I was able to get it to run at a pretty stable 30FPS. I'm slightly surprised about how much fiddling I had to do to get there though given what I thought was reasonable hardware: Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon RX 7700S I think I could do it better if I use Linux rather than Windows, Windows RAM usage is stupid without stripping the system down. But once I got it working in a reasonable state, it was so awesome! I felt like a new Bond! If anyone has any advice to get things going a bit smoother FPS-wise, I'd appreciate it.
