hmm, i have a conundrum. the standard retail version of hl2 includes cs:s yes? and the collectors edition includes cs:s, hl:s, a pretty book, and a gabe-sized t-shirt. so, do you think its worth the extra money to buy collectors edition, since it really is only for hl:s?

i dont think it's worth the extra $30. that's why i bought the silver off of steam instead.

i havnt had a single problem at all with this game. it unlocked just fine, only took it like 5 mins to unlock around 3am hehe.

on my athlon xp 2400 runnin at 2.00 mhz, with 512 ram, 5700 fx ultra , it get a constant 50+ fps usually, unless its a big outdoor area, then it will drop as more and more action comes. but nothing unplayable ever. i do wish the sound problems would get fixed. either a new driver for our sound cards or something. i just hate how the sounds cuase game studdering.

but other than that, i have to give my hand to valve. this game has given me more than my moneys worth, and i havnt beat it yet. Even with all the hype around its release, i think this game still blew my mind in how u can interact with everything.

anyong who says this game sucks, needs to just quit gaming, cuase this has certainly put a new edge on fps.

The sound issue that's causing the game to lag and stutter seems to be something that a lot of people are experiencing...I find myself having this problem as well.

good. the more people that have the issue, the sooner valve will be pressured to fix it.

If any of you care i have figured out a solution to the sound issue. it seems that it turns on EAX by default, with my broken audigy this isnt good, i also noticed if you have it set to anything BUT 2 speakers, it does that, so my recommendation is just leave it at 2 speakers and sound is fine :)

I finally got stuck....ive looked around...tried everything.... anybody have a clue?

alright dude what you gotta do is jump onto those pipes you see in the screenshot, then make your way down them pipes and you will see a valve :) turn it and the water will overflow that place then go back to that red lit tunnel as you can now reach it since its under water too. hope i made since :) i got stuck there for a bit too

Thanks a lot! How many FPS you all getting? Im getting up to 250 in some places.

Hey guys, I haven't been following this thread (to do so would be insane!) so I'm probably repeating something that's been mentioned before:

There was a bug mentioned earlier today on a separate thread (since removed due the existence of this one) that was apparently fixed by removing a certain file. Does anyone know?

it's really strange how some people just seem to have so many technical problems and i'm not talking about hl2. just in general. are you people just unlucky? why do i not run into any sort of problems you all describe? don't get me wrong, i'm sure the problems are all legitimate (well mostly anyway) but of all the pcs i've owned, i never really had any _major_ problems with. maybe i got lucky and picked the right hardware? eh well. enough babbling from me. i hope everyone here solves their tech difficulties and gets to play hl2 in all its glory!! HL2 ownz me :ninja:

Thanks for the tip csabo2, I'll have to try that because the sound/lag issue can get very annoying after awhile. Other than this, I'm having a blast with this game!! (Y) :woot:
