[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

i havent had that happen to me when it says "loading" but i have had that happen to me midgame when it's trying to load some new sound or texture... it'll stutter then just sit there and the audio sounds like a broken record... i fix it by hitting the windows key to return me to the desktop and then going back into the game..annoying but at least it's not crashing... try that w/ your loading problem.

it wont even let me do that.. it locks up and i get very little response.. and thats just an hourglass. =/

Smells like warez. The button should remove the red lasers, opens the doors and turns green when pressed.

You have a thing about HL2 warez don't you? :o No, my copy is a legal, bought, registered real deal, and I take that comment as an insult. I do not pirate games, I buy them, simple as that.

If you trip the lazers then the button is disabled, I guess they expect you to die, but I was in God mode to find a way to destroy the lazers. I thought it was a little hard and not easy when being fired upon... :p

yea, them guns are pretty powerfull, i had full armor and health when i went into the room, and i tripped the lazer, and before i could make it to the button they had killed me. so im pretty sure if you DO trip the lazers the only way to make it to the button is in god mode (which the designers wherent counting on) thats why it doesnt work once the lazers have been tripped.

Well, I can tell you it is possible without God mode, but it takes about 40 mins. You nearly run out of ammo and it takes a lot of luck... Pure luck maybe...

Or just wait for Half-Life Source so you don't have to play the game with ol'crappy graphics :)

Isn't Half Life:Source out? It says just released on my steam list, so as long as he upgrades to silver for $10, he will get HL:S now, and DoD:S when it comes out.

HLS is exactly like the original only with the improved water of HL2 and the implemented physics engine. Valve decided not to change any of the content because they thought it might ruin the nostalga.

but im not in the uK !!!! im in the USA... and want the DVD ... would it still be in english? hmm anyone know if they will ship the the States?

Damn valve!!!! why give 1 country all the good stuff this is kinda making me want to just get it off Steam but... bah i want a DVD of it!

a classic example of us geography

england - english ????

just finished HL2 after 4 days playing about 6 hours a day on medium and man what a game !!!! HL2 really has set the standard and i wanna say to VALVE and everyone involved in the game thank you ! you really have made a great game here and its sad to see that so many people have decided to pirate the game .Its worth every penny and i truly am amazed.

Best moments for me was using the blue grav gun in the citadel tossing the combines around :D and the striders outside the bank ! man i tell you pummeling striders with the rocket launcher is so satisfying :)

lets just hope HL3 doesnt take another 5 years !!!

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
