[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Anyone having problems after the latest update.

I cannot play any source games, I have tried HL : S, CS : S, HL2, HL2 : Deathmatch I just get the preparing to screen and then nothing.

The only game I can play is codename gordon and I don't fancy downloading HL to see if that works.

hl1 based games run hl2 based do not. im sure the bug will be fixed in the next 24 hours.

I sure hope they make an expansion (or two) of this as they did with Blue Shift and Opposing Force. It would be cool to once again see the story from Barney's eyes. It's awesome when you get a couple points of view on one story; you get more details a lot easier.

Also, I found out about this just earlier today:

Does anybody know the name and password? I'm probably way behind on the news :/ but I'm curious.

Barnacle in the box that pops up on the black page and hit enter on the keyboard.

one thing that's kinda odd about hl2 is the weapon accuracy and damage.  firstly, the pistols seem to be the most accurate weapons :/  and with the magnum, you can shoot a combine in the crotch and he'll go down.  but what about headshots?  with the standard pistol i noticed there isn't a "headshot" shot.  ya know?  mind you, it does seem to do more damage when you shoot them in the head.  just kinda strange i guess.

the magnum is a sniper rifle without the scope... i use the suit zoom to target, unzoom, manum round, drop a combine from across the map

Ok whats up with that page?

all i see is a white [___________] thingy and if i look at the source i see alyx in ascii

and there is a link in teh source to ... whatsmyname.jpg a picture of a roof barnacle?

oh wait i just got it!!

I'm stuck for the first time. It's on the part where the doctor guy is trying to escape through the portal thing. I get my way to the top where Alyx is on the other side of the glass, and she says "oh my god, the portal is opening" or something, and than he escapes and I fail the mission. How am I suppose to stop him? thanks.

WTF..!

Why did they waste their time with that ASCII picture in the HTML source of that page..?

When revealed, why does it show a picture of "you-know-who" with that "you-know-what" hurting "you-know-who"?

Totally clueless to that page (not to mention how someone got the username/password/text correct).

lol to clear up on that, djmuk...

I dont know how they got the password in the beginning but when you get in, check the source below Alyx's pic and it says:

/secret/secondtest/whatsmyname.jpg

so then go back and apply that to the end of the www.half-life2.com and you see a picture of a barnicle. The file name says "whatsmyname" so you go back to the black screen with the text box and put in 'barnicle'.

Tada.

    • Microsoft resumes forced Copilot app installation on some Windows PCs by Usama Jawad Late last year, Microsoft planned to begin the automatic installation of the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on certain Windows PCs. However, in March 2026, it disabled this process due to a technical issue and informed customers that it would let them know when it would resume. It seems like that was only a temporary respite, as the Redmond tech giant has started the forced installation of the app on eligible devices. In an update on its Message Center for IT admins, Microsoft has informed customers that it is resuming the automatic installation of the Microsoft 365 Copilot on commercial Windows PCs that have Microsoft 365 apps already installed. What this means is that if you have Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more installed on your Windows PC through a Microsoft 365 license, you'll likely see the Microsoft 365 Copilot app pop up in your Installed Apps section soon, too. Fortunately, IT admins do have some control over this rollout. If they choose to opt out, devices in their tenant won't automatically get the dreaded Copilot app. However, phased rollout via feature flags has already begun and is expected to be completed by the end of June: Feature Flag1: started Jun 4, expected to finish June 10 Feature Flag2: expected to start on June 11, expected to finish on June 17 MSGraph schema rollout: expected to start on June 18, expected to finish on June 24 Feature Flag3: expected to start on June 25, expected to complete by July 1st Microsoft hasn't detailed what the process is to toggle the feature flags in its Message Center, and its public support page does not seem to mention it yet either. The Redmond tech giant has encouraged IT admins to let users know beforehand so they aren't caught by surprise to see a new app seemingly installed without manual interaction or their consent. Users who already have the app installed or are based in the European Economic Area (EEA) are unaffected by this move, which Microsoft has understandably flagged as a "major change".
