Eli Manning, the son of God.

Oh, I almost forgot. You weren't kiddin when you said we won't see Pittsburgh in the NFC championship! Its ashame..they're in the AFC.

 Hence that is why I said we will not be seeing Pittsburgh in the NFC championship. And you called me retarded...maybe you should think and read my post more carefully and see what I am implying before you post next time.

He also asked me what excuse would I give if we lost the NFC championship again. I was joking when I said bad ref calls. I was not talking about the past Pittsburgh game, I was talking about the future NFC championship if we make it there and lose.

Eli will be fine in due time. He is a rookie quarterback on a terrible team. I highly doubt he is going to be the next Peyton but he will do ok. Remember Peyton went 3 -13 in his first year. The only reason Big Ben is having success is because he has a lot of good players around him.

Even though your an Eagles fan and I can see what angle you have on this, Big Ben really hasnt done a whole lot. Hes shown that hes a good quarterback but I believe if Maddox was on they would have maybe 1-2 more losses, not a huge diff, Eli might look good on that team hah

The only reason Big Ben is having success is because he only has to throw for 100 yards per game to be "successful".  He still hasn't shown me squat.

They're still 10-1, so that tells you something :pinch:

i don't think you guys are giving ben enough credit. and giving eli too much. i think it's pretty much been proven over time that most of the greats come from the small schools, and aren't hyped at all. eli will flop. ben will be successfull. it just comes from your attitude. ben went to small school, and had to work hard to get recognized. eli got recognized just by being born. the attitude towards the game just isn't the same.

i don't think ben has the greatest group of athletes around him either, but they've absolutely destroyed the best teams in the league...you gotta give him credit for that.

it's nice to see my boy brees finally doing well too. i've been preaching for a long time that he will be great someday...

It makes me wonder if Kyle Orton is going to be a good NFL QB?

Eli did something that even his brother couldn't do...

...beat the Mighty Florida Gators. :)

And one thing you guys need to remember...you don't, necessarily, have to put up God-like numbers in order to be successful in the NFL.

Trent Dilfer vs. Dan Marino.

One has a buttload of NFL passing records...the other has a Super Bowl trophy. Even Tom Brady won't re-write record books. But he's got hardware ;)

The only reason Big Ben is having success is because he only has to throw for 100 yards per game to be "successful".  He still hasn't shown me squat.

Yes, is easy to have 150 yards. But tell me what rookie can have his rating, his completion % or his leadership. Like it or not we are not talking just about yards here, Ben is playing like a pro just because he can stay calm and still in games, without rookie'ish pressure, make the necessary plays at the correct time and actually complete them.

/\ If you like team management and utilizing every player I would think that you would like Payton Manning...considering that he's the best in the league at doing it.

585043782[/snapback]

in the regular season...he's also the best at choking when it comes to the playoffs...i'd still pick brady.

As i huge Giants Fan and season ticket holder heres my thoughts:

"We" never wanted Eli and now we are stuck with him. He won't be a huge failure, but he is never going to be his brother either. He will get better. Nuff Said.

There are 11 men on each side of the football and its not just eli, lots of them share in the blame but mostly the terrible O-line and the receivers innability to catch really just kills the game, the team is playing so bad i could go on and on, but i will still love them today tomorrow and the next time we win a super bowl.

Eagle Fans are unlikeable, this whole we are proud of having a jail in our stadium attitude has to go. Its pretty sad when the Eagle fans in front of me won't take their kids to Philly for a game because he doesn't want his children exposed to the animals.

Its pretty sad when some punks who are wearin TO Jersey's in the parking lot want to pick a fight with me and my friend when 1 they are gonna lose and 2 this i am a white guy from the suburbs of philthy doesn't really scare anyone. Getting punched in the jaw and the poice not helping you isn't working for you.

Lastly

My Argument to all Eagles Fans, enjoy your moment right now because

"I have seen my team win 2 superbowls in my lifetime. Must suck to have never won 1 like the eagles, or is it worse to be NFC East Champs and choke at home in first week playoffs not once but twice? I can't wait to see that again. Come to think of it, it must just suck in general to be a Philthadelphia sports fan of any type. In my 28 years on this earth, not 1 of your pathetic sad little teams have won anything, except for that NBA title in what was it '84? The Flyers? THE biggest cinderalla joke on ice, I love how they called the Devils the mickey mouse club, well M-I-C-K-E-Y baby. 3 in my life to none for you in mine. The Phillies, please, they should move down to the AA league. The sixers are a joke to. Even the Philly colleges eat at sports (I could be biased i went to Penn State)"

You know what most Eagles fans replied in the Giants Stadium Parking lot when i gave this argument? They said well i am a Yankee (or Orioles) Fan!!!! :woot: I am a Lakers Fan!!! Yea right! ROTFL!!! How sad and pathetic. history will prove me right, who are you going to beat in the big dance? Indy? You have no pass defense, THe Pats? They will just lay the smack down on you, i know maybe the Steelers, at least they are a class act from PA but we already now how they owned you this season. Maybe you'll get luckey and San Diego will get to the game, not likely but stragner things have happened. Or maybe you'll just lose at home to Hotlanta. I guess you won your superbowl when you beat NY and clinched, maybe thats just as good as it will get. good luck with that. say what you like, i know the giants season is over, but in the end it aint worth $#!T if you don't win the big game. Only losers believe otherwise.

Haha, and you wonder why we get into fights with Giants fans?

The majority are ignorant ******s that seriously overstereotype.

The Philly sports scene has been in a funk for a while.

Big deal, there's no reason to attack us for it. And fans that steer for the Yankees as well as the Lakers? Let them. Who cares? I'm Philly only.

Oh, and where do you get off calling Philadelphia 'Philthy', when New York is the rat capitol of the world? Give me a break.

All of your points are moot, you can now proceed to enjoy seeing your pathetic team get whooped on every week while I have the pleasure of watching my Sixers fall apart. It's sports, not life, fag.

To those who said that Big Ben is a talentless overrated player.

%90+ completion avg and 2 tds.

Ok, not awesome numbers, but for a rookie?

We know about a lot of rookie QBs that have a good team but they just tank. Big Ben, in the other hand knows how to use his resources.

Oh man you lost me there when you said you are a Giants and Lakers fan. You must be crying on the inside. I hope you enjoy watching the Eagles in the playoffs, see you guys next season. Hopefully the Giants will actually challenge us next time.

    • An actual cosmic "Eye of Sauron" had been looking straight at us all along by Sayan Sen Image by Kovin P. Vasquez via Pexels | Not representative An international team of researchers has solved a long-standing mystery surrounding a distant blazar known as PKS 1424+240, helping explain why it produces some of the brightest high-energy gamma rays and cosmic neutrinos ever observed despite appearing to have a relatively slow-moving jet. The findings were published on June 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics Letters. The study addresses a broader challenge in astrophysics: understanding how extreme cosmic objects accelerate particles to very high energies and produce very high-energy (VHE) photons and neutrinos. PKS 1424+240 is located billions of light-years from Earth. It has attracted attention for years because it is both a powerful source of VHE gamma rays and the brightest known neutrino-emitting blazar in the sky, according to observations by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It is also associated with one of the strongest peaks in IceCube's nine-year neutrino sky map A blazar is a type of active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole that pulls in surrounding matter and launches jets of plasma moving close to the speed of light. What makes blazars unique is their orientation. One of their jets points almost directly toward Earth, making them appear exceptionally bright across the electromagnetic spectrum and allowing scientists to study some of the most extreme physical processes in the Universe. The scientists exclaimed it's like the 'Eye of Sauron' in deep space. Usually, the brightest gamma-ray-emitting blazars are expected to have jets that appear to move very quickly. However, radio observations of PKS 1424+240 suggested that its jet was moving much more slowly, creating a contradiction that became part of a long-running problem known as the "Doppler factor crisis." To investigate, researchers analyzed 15 years of observations from the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), a network of 10 radio antennas spread across the continental United States, Hawaii and St. Croix. Using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), astronomers combine signals from widely separated radio telescopes to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope capable of revealing extremely fine details. The team combined 42 polarization-sensitive radio images collected between 2009 and 2025, creating a much deeper and more detailed view of the jet than had previously been possible. The observations were carried out as part of MOJAVE (Monitoring Of Jets in Active galactic nuclei with VLBA Experiments), a long-running program that studies the brightness, polarization and magnetic field structures of jets produced by active galaxies. The project aims to better understand how activity near supermassive black holes is linked to high-energy radiation and neutrino emission. “When we reconstructed the image, it looked absolutely stunning,” said Yuri Kovalev, lead author of the study and Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded MuSES project at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “We have never seen anything quite like it — a near-perfect toroidal magnetic field with a jet, pointing straight at us.” The image revealed an unusual geometry. The researchers found that Earth lies almost directly in line with the jet, with a viewing angle of less than 0.6 degrees. In simple terms, astronomers are looking almost straight down the jet. This turned out to be the key to the mystery. Because the jet is aimed almost directly at Earth, a relativistic effect called Doppler boosting dramatically increases its apparent brightness. The study found that this effect boosts the emission by a factor of about 30 while also making the jet appear slower than it actually is. “This alignment causes a boost in brightness by a factor of 30 or more,” said Jack Livingston, a co-author at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “At the same time, the jet appears to move slowly due to projection effects — a classic optical illusion.” The nearly head-on view also gave scientists a rare look at the jet's magnetic field. Using polarized radio signals, they detected a clear toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, magnetic field component. The observations suggest the jet carries an electric current and that its magnetic field helps launch, shape and stabilize the flow of plasma. Researchers believe this magnetic structure may also play a key role in accelerating particles to energies high enough to produce both gamma rays and neutrinos. “Solving this puzzle confirms that active galactic nuclei with supermassive black holes are not only powerful accelerators of electrons, but also of protons — the origin of the observed high-energy neutrinos,” Kovalev said. The research was conducted under the MuSES (Multi-messenger Studies of Energetic Sources) project, which investigates how active galactic nuclei accelerate particles and generate different cosmic signals, including light and neutrinos. Scientists say understanding how protons are accelerated and linked to neutrino production remains one of the major unanswered questions in astrophysics. The findings help explain why some blazars can appear to have slow jets while still producing extremely bright high-energy emissions. More broadly, the study strengthens the link between relativistic jets, magnetic fields, gamma rays and high-energy neutrinos. Researchers say the results provide new clues about how some of the Universe's most powerful natural particle accelerators work and offer important insights for multimessenger astronomy, which combines different types of cosmic signals to study extreme events in space.
