[Definitive] Sony PSP Thread

Recommended Posts

I heard somewhere that in the near future, sony will release psp's with better batteries, so that the 33mhz barrier can be reached without taking a huge hit on battery life.

I would expect 2nd generation psp's by this christmas or by march next year.. My friends dad is a product tester and engineer for sony and says that the new 2nd gen psp will have a few new features, fixed problems with the screen such as dust, pixels, etc, possibly colored versions of it, better battery life, 333mgz clocked processor not 222mgz, and maybe a new revision of its wi-fi.

according to all the articles i've seen, the clock speed lock is done in software, and is not a hardware lock.

honestly, i don't think they'll make any changes, or add any features. then it'll just turn into the whole apple ipod thing. a new model every 6 months will just **** off all of the people who bought it already.

i dont see new psp coming out soon, not even end of year. why? sonys strategy on the psp, or any of their playstation products are not revised until the software and games are fully settled into the market. you see, most of the upgrades will be firmware based. clock setting (hardware clocks cmon, software clocks? the hell) on processors may be adjustable based on the demands of the games in the market. expect clocks to be upped by firmware, not hardware revision, and quality fixes, including a new battery on new units, and browser, or software upgrades.

Sony will not bring out a new PSP , they will be the same with just hardware manufacturer changes , e.g. from Sharp to Samsung for the screens

Whcih will mean if you have some sort of PRP you should be able to replace it for the updated PSP if it comes out within a year or 2. I just hope they don't come out with an update that has a dif. model number and such that my PRP couldn't get it.

edit: arrg my PSP still loses the connection to the web when I idle on a web page...

Sounds like the Power saving on the wifi is turned on. Turn it off and should work fine.

You'll find that in your system settings.

No, that's not it. I've tried everything from that to using static addressing to messing with DNS settings to turning off gaming mode on my router to changing the rts settings and such. Others seem to have had problems with d-link routers as well. Next time I'm going with a router that has community firmware projects...

well ya, but look at the xbox.. they released 6 different versions of there console. 1 to fix problems, 2 to lower production costs... its not like the ipod were they release it just to make money and not do anything to really make it worth it... and yes speed lock is done by software, the firmware and it can be unlocked by a update.. I was speaking that second gen out of the box will have 333mgz enabled..

I have No Dead Pixles.. It made meee sooooo happy.. I got mine the first day it came out. :woot:

and EB still hasn't gotten new PSP's in to replace mine.

I'm just thinking, if this keeps happening, I'll be getting a brand spanking new PSP every month or so.

Sweet!

    • Oddly, there was a time that UFC games were culturally relevant, largely because of the graphics and gameplay that was different than the norm. But it seems like as the sport grew in popularity, gaming outlets stopped talking about the games.

    • AFAIK you shouldn't be getting a consent popup at all from Canada, so I think it is to do with a VPN or private/secure DNS.
    • From what I see it's only for Insider - preview builds. Not for everybody. So...
