jack_canada
I might install it on vmware, because i don't wanna my MBR (I'm dual booting vector linux and windows xp) here's my specs. AMD Athlon XP 2000 512 MB PC2100 Ram 80 GB Hdd 8mb cache, 7200 rpm 32mb ****ty geforce 2 graphics card. So, is this good enough for installing under vmware? PyX
Yeah... Why wouldn't it be good enough ? If you had a 200 mhz, then OK it would be too old. Your video card is old, but I doubt people can install their video card drivers on Longhorn...
noPCtoday
check out mine: P4 2.8Ghz 1G ddrram 120G HD ... its still very slow,so i think u should just try longhorn for a while, never using it for work,although...ull crazy by longhorn

I doubt i'll run into any new copy of longhorn legally! so I won't install it but for future sake how do you think my pc would run with longhorn? Rob2687
The final won't be out for a while so its kinda hard to say how it will run and its not really the time to be building a Longhorn capable PC either.
Lee G. Veteran Posted January 1, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 1, 2005 Longhorn works fine on my 512MB RAM, 2.8Ghz, 40GB PC Just don't enable DWM and transparency, things start getting slow then.

leesmithg
When people post 'is my puter good enough', well depends on what you want to use it for and what you want to achieve. So tell us ! Can't just be amatter of using an ops system, has to be more.
sevastopol
im sure that when longhorn is released u will need 1 gig of ram and amd fx55 equivalent to run it properly. ;)
theyarecomingforyou
i though longhorn wanted a dx9 card to be fully functional 585222107[/snapback] Yes, and it will need to be 128MB minimum as well. The alpha doesn't require anything at all, but the final version will be slightly steep (in today's terms, not when it is released).

I wouldn't really use it for anything serious or normal or average like I usually use my computer for. It'd just to be to play around and toy with, to see what all the hype is about, and what it's like and has to offer and capable of.

If you do not have a DX9 Card, then you will get a toned down version of what you would normally get. And if you hate all the eye candy that Longhorn comes with, then there will be a "Classic" mode for those users.

I can upgrade the videocard though, that's not too much of a problem.

That's not an important factor to me. Things like performance and speed and reliability are, for example. I'm happy enough with the ported themes for XP.
