Official Macworld Thread

A very reliable source just told me Apple will update the GFX processors of most of its line just before or during the Tiger release, that way all the new revs will run it smoothly.  :ninja:

/me waits for the Mac Mini rev1… :p

I'll wait with you buddy!

Oh and thanks to DrEaMs In DiGiTaL for the Macworld link.

Thats Video RAM.  The amount of RAM is less important than the graphics processor; a 64 meg integrated solution would be worse than the 32 meg Radeon 9200 in this, as there is no dedicated GPU in the first case.

Intergret Graphic has never worked. However, what is the different between ATI 9200 with 32MB RAM and ATI 9550 32MB (asume if it is exited)? I bit there isn't much different. Likewide, if Mac Mini supply greater video RAM, it would be more fun with game and video editing. I might be wrong and please feel free to tell me. :D

Geez, the CI/CV in Tiger can do tons of sicks things.

My guess is this new mini will run Tiger fine with the same effects of Panther. Anything developed after the fact will probably take more resources than a 32 mb card can pump out. I noticed a difference going from a 32mb card to a 128 in Windows, which has jack for effects.

Just to be certain of things; The iPod Shuffle only has a battery life of twelve-hours and lacks a display?

Since it operates on two AAA batteries, it's not too big of a deal. You can always change the battery.

By the way, did anyone notice that after comparing the size of the iPod Shuffle in the following picture:

Apple actually says "Do not eat iPod shuffle." at the bottom of the page? :D

iPod shuffle isn't 2 AAA batteries... It's a rechargable battery. You can purchase an accessory whihc adds two AA batteries and extends your battery life to 20 hours though...

so you cannot use regular batteries. i would have expected a WAAAAY longer battery life from a flash based player. and you cannot find song cos it does not have display.

AND if you go on a trip you cannot recharge without finding a USB port somewhere first?

WEAK

Apple actually says "Do not eat iPod shuffle." at the bottom of the page?

yeah, that was pretty funny

also MAC MINI is very cool!

If you'd watched the keynote you'd see why Apple decided not to include the display... and the 12 hours battery life is so much better than having to use AA batteries

Why did Apple leave out the display? I'm too lazy to watch the keynote.

They demoed all these other little crappy flash players and all of them had aweful tiny interface's... then steve went on saying that the Shuffle feature of the iPods was the most popular feature when it comes to listening to music on your iPod. Then they thought what if based the player around the shuffle feature (hence the name) .

Well thats it. At ?380 I AM going to become an Apple Mac owner.

I literally got to read the start of the keynote (over IRC) then had to get dragged away to drive down to Oxford - I finally get on the net at the other end and there is news of all these wonderful new Apple products. The Mac Mini however is now officially on my list to buy.. seriously.

Does anybody know where I can find good quality photos from the Expo ? Wish the Keynote was made into a torrent .. :/

There is, in fact i'm dowloading it now, at home.

I can't sreamed it yesterday, os I went to bed, and this morning found a link to the torrent. I'd leave it downloading, I'll watch it tonight when I come back home.

Sorry, but i'm at work and i cannot provide with the link to the torrent file.... :(

Damn I'm really starting to fall in love with steve jobs :p

The iPod shuffle really doesn't impress me - something with a screen would be much better. And like I said in another thread, I don't think it should be called an ipod - if you say to your friends "hey, I got an ipod!" they're gonna expect you to pull out a G4 or a mini maybe; pull this thing out and they'll think to themselfs "what the hell is this thing"... ah well, my opinion anyway...

What I'm loving here is the Mac Mini!! damn that thing looks nice, and so damn small!! I've decided that's gonna be my first Mac. But why did they bring it out so soon? Steve should have waited for Tiger and then released the mini. A few more USB ports would have been nice. And au$800?? That's kinda expensive.. but still, very nice.

iWork; I never use anything like that so it doesn't mean much to me. But Apple need more things in it - spreadsheets, database, web page creator - something like "Office by Mac" that would give MS something to worry about.

Anyway, I've spent my two cents for today..

Why? Can someone post mirror for video?

Seems like a fairly good business decision to me. Get lots more people intrested in and buying macs and then when Tiger comes out make more money with people upgrading.

Assuming of course that the upgrade isn't free (seems unlikely)

    • Google are hyprocrites for signing this. They have been pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft, only they do it on Android and ChromeOS.
    • In some countries the law has forced Microsoft to display a menu on a fresh install of Windows which asks which web browser you want and it will install that browser. This doesn't add any bloat to Windows. It simply an additional step when setting up a new PC.
    • Chrome is also a first party browser on Android and ChromeOS. And on those systems, Google is pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft does on Windows.
    • Unofficial script lets you install unreleased Windows 11 features without Microsoft Account by Sayan Sen Microsoft has been steadily evolving the Windows Insider Program over the years, introducing new channels and testing paths that allow enthusiasts to experience upcoming and yet-to-be-released Windows features (some interesting hidden ones too) before they reach the public. However, one long-standing requirement has remained largely unchanged as users are generally expected to enroll in the Program and with a Microsoft account. That's where a third-party tool called "OfflineInsiderEnroll" can help. OfflineInsiderEnroll is said to be a lightweight script that enables access to Windows Insider Program builds on systems that are not signed in with a Microsoft account. Essentially the tool configures the necessary Insider settings locally and hence allows users to select and switch between available preview channels while continuing to receive builds through the normal Windows Update channel. If you are wondering how it manages to do so, it is made possible by a Registry value known as TestFlags. When configured to"0x20", Windows stops communicating with Microsoft's online Insider enrollment services thus preventing locally configured Insider settings from being overwritten. This allows the script to apply its own channel configuration directly through the Registry as Windows Update does not verify whether a device has been officially enrolled in the Insider Program or not. Previously the utility has had already supported the traditional Insider branches including Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. However following Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its preview channels, the script has now been updated. The latest OfflineInsiderEnroll version, 2.6.6, adds support for the newly introduced Insider channel lineup. As such, users can now choose from several Experimental channels in addition to Beta and Release Preview options. The update also retains tools for refreshing the Insider cache, resetting Insider settings, and completely stopping Insider enrollment when needed. Keep in mind though that will need elevated privileges when running the script (run as Admin). You can get the latest version of OfflineInsiderEnroll from this page on its official GitHub repo.
