Definitive Home Theatre setup thread

Reorganized for better bass, previous setup had a bass null at the viewing position (center of the room) and since I couldn't find a better spot for the subwoofer, I ended up rotating the whole setup.

Blu-ray & HD-DVD collection (top row comprises of free discs, hence Waterworld and Postman.. just felt like I needed to point out that I didn't buy them)

New stack, at the top my new beast of a receiver, Onkyo's TX-NR5007. Cable management? What's that? (I'll try to hide them a little better once I'm sure I like the new setup).

My minimalist setup for right now. Having my Logitech THX-5500 on this system instead of a real audiophile setup is killing me.

very basic setup still. so far my notebook is used as a media center pc. it gets way too hot after a few hours i will replace it with a htpc soon. the hifi system i got 2 days ago for cheap and loving it, the headphones as well. unsure about the dioders if i will keep them that way.

a shame my cheap htc sensation cam cant show better picture :/

as you can see i stream some youtube vid via wlan thanks to macrotube.

- tv: sony kdl40w4000

- hifi system: pioneer a-z470 / sp-z570

- headphones (those on the very left): technics rp-dj1210

- xbox is still first gen core edition with a refurbished hd bought at microsoft.

- receiver: some default model nothing special

btw. my flat is too small for bigger tv or anything else.

if some1 has an idea for the following problem: notebook is connected to hdmi2 with my tv and streams sound via hdmi cable too. on hdmi1 i use the tv-receiver. now if i switch from hdmi2 to hdmi1 and after a bit back to hdmi2 there is no sound anymore. i always have to reboot the notebook and then i have sound back. i suspect its because the notebook (acer ferrari 5000) is pretty old and maybe not 100% up to windows 7.... however the thing is if i spend now 300 or 400 euros for a htpc connecting via hdmi again and have the same problem i better save the money. has someone similar setup (htpc connected on a hdmi port and the tv receiver on a 2nd hdmi port) and can confirm it is working without issues?

I loved this thread, wish it was still active. This pictures a little old, the TVs been upgraded last week to a Samsung 65MU8000 as well the receiver which is now a Sony 1060 (I think that's the model). Also the Xbox 360 games have mostly come out of the racking as I need more space for movies.

    • ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE keyboard is 27% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE is currently $159.99 on Amazon, down from $219.99. That's 27% off and $60 saved on a keyboard that combines retro and modern design, while being one of the most responsive and adaptable 75% boards available right now (purchase link down below). The ROG Falchion Ace comes with the HFX V2X magnetic switches that allow you to set actuation anywhere between 0.1mm and 3.5mm with 0.01mm fine-tuning steps. It also comes with Rapid Trigger, a feature that resets the key the moment you release it rather than waiting for a fixed reset point, which makes a noticeable difference in fast-paced games. And finally, an 8,000Hz polling rate should make the response time feel instant. The build quality is decent, with dense plastic and powder-coated aluminum, which is expected from a keyboard at this price point. There’s also the onboard adjustment wheel, which lets you tweak actuation and Rapid Trigger sensitivity without opening any software. For competitive gaming, the ROG Falchion Ace is hard to beat at this price. And those who appreciate old-school hardware, especially those white keyboards we’ve all grown up with, will likely also appreciate the looks of this keyboard. A carry case is included.
