installation tab - with/without backups are named incorrectly, or else the sentence and tick box above is incorrect:

the tick box allows you to enter stuff in the second box which it says will allow you to install with backups.

However, it actually opens up the box labeled 'without' backups!

^ Actually they give the same meaning..

"This module requires a separate installation procedure for installation with backups"

and

"This module requires a separate installation procedure for installation without backups"

In both cases this means "Gimme separate boxes!"

maybe its just the fact im tired, but it doesnt seem right.

the tick box makes sense - it allows you to enter a seperate procedure for adding backups.

however, i think the two boxes are just the wrong way around!

it should be:

- Tickbox "tick here if a seperate procedure is required for installation with backups"

- Box to enter commands without backups.

- Box to enter commands with backups (tickbox allows entry here).

could you also make the operating system tab a bit smarter.

for example, if you specified ANY_OS, if you then specified anything else it would either remove ANY_OS or display a warning

or if you specified ANY_XP_VERSION, and then XP_PRO, it would remove ANY_XP_VERSION or display a warning

and the IE and lang boxes should to do it as well.

:)

^ Oh, sure! I just forgot to post it (TheBlazingAngel already has this!).

dont forget the new autopatcher .exe to go along with it!

* file removed - outdated *

changes in latest ModuleEditor2:

1) installation tab - with/without backups box descriptions changed to correspond with sentence beside tick box.

2) drag&drop files onto detection tab fixed

3) more 2k flags - reason for new AP .exe

4) you can enter commas in the fields in the operating system tab

5) if you double ckicl on a blank line beside the flags, two squares (characters that cant be displayed) are no longer entered

6) all flags now work when double clicked

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
