Does drinking water really help your brain?

Recommended Posts

The brain has two site which are linked together with a cortex thing. This cortex can become cover with mucas, which is bad. Water clears this. The average human should consume about 2 litres of water every day.

Drinking water is supposed to increase concentration and make you more alert and can increase brain capasity. But is this all true?

Actually, one of the people who won Who wants to be a millionnaire in the UK, didn't touch her water on what she said were scientific grounds. In the paper the next day, it was said that water can swell the brain during intense periods of thinking and should be avoided :ponder:

You can buy flavoured water. The taste also depents on were you live. Different places have different tastes. I live about an hours drive from a resevoir, so the water I get taste fresh. But if you live in London for example, which is miles away from were I live the water will taste different.

H20 is tasteless and oderless. Your senses are picking up additives [flouride], as well as minerals and such. Yes you need lots of water. Not only for flushing stuff out but because its a primary source of H+, which you need LOTS of. To think you need energy which comes from the generation of ATP which occurs thru a proton [H+] gradient. Do ya really need a biology lesson? :cheeky:

English water is full of 'added extras' you can see it floating about in the water, calcium and all that stuff. Either that or my water is unhealthy. That resouvoir used to be a village until someone flooded it. So it probably has bits of dead people in it, coz there was mostlikely a grave yard there.

I thought that drinking water is making more concentration on the brain. I am not sure what you said in the TV show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" that water can swell the concentration in the brain, but drinking water helps the contestant to drive out of stress because the deeper they think the more stress generated inside the brain. Drinking water helps to ease out the stress, therefore it also helps them to concentrate more.

Drinking water is not just helping the brain.....it does help your body metabolism too. It is must be consumed for those who suffer dehydration (is it the correct spelling?) frequently.

I think I receive one email from my friend before that drinking water have been proven for any disease treatments. This email was written by a doctor in India. I just wondering if someone have been reading it. I found out that his theory were true, on one occassion I have bad cold. By drinking 3-4 glass of water every morning it does cure my cold. It's true! ;)

Really interesting topic I have just discussed ;)

I want to hear anyone comments about what I just said. I really like to hear responses :)

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
    • After I installed those, my older but capable Win 11 laptop (16GB RAM) reported it as 26H2 26300.8697. Then I installed it on my big laptop (128GB RAM! Hehe sorry), it reported it as 25H2 26220.8690. Ugh. Do I have to switch Insiders channels from Release to Beta?
