i use zonealarm since 2 year... recently, with my new 3mbps connection :) i use many p2p client like Bittorrent network and Emule. with a huge number of peer connection, zone alarm use 98% of my CPU, i switch to outpost and i dont have this problem anymore.

my computer:

ZA do the job but is not perfect :)

to disable filter on specific port? so ZA dont rush again?

It is a problem with some systems, mostly with eMule. Sometimes eMule uses a lot of resources, sometimes ZAP does, sometimes nothing happens at all. It isn't just for ZAP either, other firewalls get this problem too.

Used Zone Alarm and Outpost for a while, eventually settled on Sygate. Sygate is the best balanced software firewall available IMHO. It does the job and stays out of your way, no bloat, and is 100% stable... at least for me.

Also, take a look at this:

Outpost Personal Firewall Pro is really good. i like the interface much better then the others and also the options i have every time. after trying norton/zonealarm/kerio/tiny/sygate i finally found something i like more :)

Seems I have to try Outpost.
