I prefer O&O Defrag... version 6 is REALLY fast, analysing a volume takes only 1-3 seconds in comparison to over a minute for version 4. It has a simple interface and IMO is easier to use than others. It looks good and runs well. It managed to defrag my 7mb (yes, mb) partition in less than a second :D, lol. Also, check out the websites to these programs - Diskeeper is purely progaganda and has big "200% Speed Increase" signs; I think it's safe to say that it is aimed at complete n00bs - still, at least the website gave me a laugh with the "unimaginable power lurks beneath the surface" part.

Haha.. so true... diskeepers got all these nice graphs saying it just increased performance by 33 percent everytime, but i swear i hardly notice any improvement. Not only that, it never defrags fully on one pass, u need a hundred multiple passes and at least 20% free memory in order for it to do its job correctly. The new diskeeper is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

I'm trying O&O as we speak and although it might take longer, it's seems to be defragging completely in one pass with only 5% available free space. i perfer to run defrag only once at night and not have to worry about it for another few weeks instead of having the defrag utility continually hogging resources.

no!

you open the drive with a hammer then you carefully sweep a magnet around the disk!

:p

This is what I call a "fast reformat"

I've just tried O&O 6, and it's great ! Takes ages to defrag my 40 Gb partition, but it's seems to be very efficient

Um.......... one thing i don't understand is why Perfect Disk need to defrag many times....... like after my first Offline defrag, i still need to do another offline defrag.........

However i still thinks Perfect Disk is the best though, simply becoz it is smaller in size and does the job. I don't understand why O&O takes 20Mb for a defrag program..........

I still think Perfect Disk could be improved......... looking forward 2 version 7. ^^

o&o defrag is amesome. the "stealth mode" managed to bring number of fragmented file from ~6000 (out of ~60000) to 7 in under 20 minutes

(my hdd is 80 gb - 30 is free.) ALL THAT WHILE I WAS DOWNLOADING 2 FILES IN ABC. :) i am impressed.

very highly recommend you try it before settling dont on build-in or diskeeper (all the others suck so badly i wont mention them)

I don't understand why O&O takes 20Mb for a defrag program..........

who cares. it does the job quick and right, and you can let it work in the background while you do something else and it does not interfere with your work. also it has all the option you may need. what else can you ask for in a defragmenter?

See, I don't understand. My PC must live in the twilight zone because I've tried O&O and its extremely slow on my pc. It takes forever to analyze and defrag. Go figure.

Note: i'm not saying the program is bad..I just cant attest to the claimed speed of defragging

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
