Ward57
Both are very capable browsers. Firefox is free, Opera isn't. Having said that, Firefox requires that you build your own custom setup using extensions. Vanilla Firefox cannot stack up against any current browser out there - it needs the extensions in order to compete. Opera, on the other hand, implements nearly all the popular extensions and the end result is a much more cohesive experience. For example, the mouse gestures work on the sidebar, the voice plugin can read out webpages, email or even chat (though you have to invoke it each time a new line appears), open in background applies to just about every means of opening a page - even if its a chat, email, transfers, configuration page. Opera also has the best implementation of tabbed browsing to date. Some argue that AvantBrowser has a better implementation, but that uses IE and IE isn't a browser, its a liability. And there is the very fact that it has chat, email, RSS, newsreader built in. All in an installation size which is less than vanilla Firefox. Compare the speed and standards support independantly if you want. Finally, some say that Opera is bloated. This says otherwise. All of my friends haven't payed a penny and they're all enjoying the capabilities of Opera :) The best way to find out is to try them both yourself. The Jorge
Why let other people tell you what browser you should use. Try them both out and see which one you prefer. These type of threads are so pointless.

tapo
In my opinion, it dosn't really matter. I used to hate Opera's interface, but it got better with 8. I also love the fact that Opera supports SVG. Hell, I'm using Opera now. But Firefox is damn nice, and dosn't have the annoying Google or image ads to deal with... Oh well. It's a tie.
