WebTV? They tried launching this back with Win98, right?

Seemed COMPLETELY USA-based and of zero use to UK users. Is this still gonna be the case, cos I hate having features that I cannot use.

I'm a huge Xbox zealot, but this could put me off.

WOW.  I really wouldn't have expected Microsoft to use a PowerPC processor.  Interesting move.

I read about the PowerPC chips ages ago, but i thought that was just a rumor.

i knew they were going to be 3, dual core chips, but i didnt expect the cores to be multi-threaded cores, that is very cool.

Xbox 360 Controller to be Longhorn Compatible

By: C?sar A. Berardini - "Cesar"

Apr. 27th, 2005 6:25 am

At the Microsoft Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) 2005, Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox 360 controller will be compatible with the next version of the Windows operating system, code-named "Longhorn".

Senior Vice President and head of the Windows Client Business unit Will Poole revealed at the event that Longhorn will support natively the next generation game controller. Back at 2004's GDC, Microsoft announced it will develop a common controller reference design and unify input APIs and button standards across multiple platforms.

XNA will also allow other hardware manufacturers to develop cross-platform game peripherals and input devices.

Been waiting for this to happen for a while now, good to see it's finally coming true.

Xbox 360 to be backwards compatible[/b]>

By Wil Harris: Wednesday 27 April 2005, 10:17

A QUESTIONNAIRE being taken online by Xbox Live users appears to give the final confirmation that Xbox 360 will be backwards compatible - at least, if you buy it with the optional hard drive.

The questionnaire deals with Xbox Live and says subscribers through the original Xbox will be able to play against gamers on Xbox 2 -- as long as they are playing a current generation Xbox game.

TheInquirer

Great to hear Xbox 360 Live players will be able to play with Xbox players (using Xbox (1) games of course)

There's rumors that Microsoft will preload a Halo "2.5" onto the hard drive...here's hoping to that.

360 Degrees of Embedded DRAM

Next-generation Xbox to utilize NEC's embedded DRAM technology.

by Chris Roper

April 27, 2005 - NEC Electronics Corporation has announced that Microsoft Corporation will be incorporating NEC's embedded DRAM (eDRAM) technology in the next-generation Xbox console. NEC's eDRAM technology is an important piece in Microsoft's next-generation console in that it will allow much quicker access to large amounts of data, inherent in high-definition graphics.

In its simplest terms, eDRAM puts memory directly onto the chip die, making for much faster access times. Normally, data would have to be sent across some sort of bus which is a huge bottleneck in conventional setups. By implementing the memory directly onto the die, the memory can be directly accessed without having to wait for instructions and data to transfer.

"The next-generation Xbox platform will provide gamers with a highly advanced graphics experience," said Todd Holmdahl, corporate vice president, Xbox Product Group. "NEC Electronics' cutting-edge embedded DRAM technology plays a vital role in enabling our graphics engine's performance, while its manufacturing process provides a reliable resource that can deliver the volumes required to support what will be an extremely popular gaming platform."

"Microsoft's next-generation Xbox platform promises to be a revolutionary gaming platform and must-have consumer device," said Hirokazu Hashimoto, executive vice president, NEC Electronics Corporation. "NEC Electronics is pleased to be an integral part of this device and looks forward to working with Microsoft to make the next-generation Xbox platform a top seller."

Hey people, i was surfing on another forum and found a link to this site

http://games.tiscali.cz/clanek/screen.asp?id=8921

they say these are actual Xbox 2 graphics, but since the site is in a foreign language, maybe someone who understand this language can confirm what is it.

With BleachBit you can free cache, delete cookies, clear Internet history, shred temporary files, delete logs, and discard junk you didn't know was there. Designed for Linux and Windows systems, it wipes clean thousands of applications including Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Opera, Safari, and more. Beyond simply deleting files, BleachBit includes advanced features such as shredding files to prevent recovery, wiping free disk space to hide traces of files deleted by other applications, and vacuuming Firefox to make it faster. Better than free, BleachBit is open source. BleachBit has many useful features: Delete your private files so completely that "even God can't read them" according to South Carolina Representative Trey Gowdy. • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
