Winamp CD Case Beta 8

Recommended Posts

My first error message! Whoo-hoo! I just updated to the beta 10 build posted above, and got this error message twice now.

Winamp CD case -ERROR

Description: Invalid procedure call or argument

Module: frmCover

Function: txtSong-Change

It doesn't seem to be using the read cover settings (folder.jpg/ID3v2 tag/Covers' folder)  when the track changes like it normally does, but searching Amazon instead. When I got that error message, it would have normally asked if I wanted to accept current cover (I have it set to ask before saving). The cover it prompted me with was the same one I have saved as folder.jpg. I've had to double-click the case a few times on a track change to search manually. I'm going to go back to beta 9 for now. Keep up the good work Carlos!

Does the error occur all the time?

Does WCC beta 9 read the same song properly?

What king of ID3 have your song? ID3v1 or ID3v2?

In addition, as you can read in the Readme.txt, there is a known issue with some covers recorded in ID3v2 tag. WCC may hang...

Can you make some additional tests?

I have uploaded a new build with a really minor change.

Beta 9 works fine, I don't recall having any problems at all. Yes, I believe that error is going to keep coming up, because WCC was not getting a pic from anywhere on a track change, and when it tried, it gave me the error. That's why I went back to beta 9. Most of my mp3's have both v1 & v2, all have v2. WCC hasn't ever hung up on me, so I don't think I've encountered that yet. I just finished going through all my files and tagging them with Mp3Tag (see sig). All album folders have a folder.jpg, and misc. tracks have a cover saved in the Covers folder when one is found. WCC doesn't have to search Amazon very often anymore. I'll play around some more tomorrow and let you know.

Here's a couple more error messages I just got, but with beta 9:

Error occurred: 384

Description: A form can't be moved or sized while minimized or maximized

Module: frmCover

Function: picCover_MouseMove

Error occurred: 388

Description: Invalid property value

Module: frmTheme

Function: GoLoadTheme

I'm not sure what happened when Error 384 happened. I wasn't touching Winamp or WCC, and Winamp wasn't in the process of changing tracks. Suddenly Winamp minimized itself and the WCC (Old Skool) skin disappeared, just the pic was showing. I left-clicked on it, and got the error. I killed WCC and restarted it, and still just the pic was there and no skin. I went into the Skin Manager and tried to change skins, and each pic for the skin showed one right after another by themselves, then just the folder pic appeared by itself again. I got the 388 error message after trying to apply the Vinyl skin. I killed Winamp and restarted (I have WCC load on Winamp start, and exit on Winamp exit), and now everything is fine.

Now, my 'puter has been going a little whacko lately, but that's another story altogether. I've gone more than 8 months since my last clean install of XP, which is a record for me. I usually do a clean install (or at least a repair install) about every 6 months. I test a lot of software in various beta stages, and install & uninstall programs almost every day. The errors with WCC may or may not be related, but only Windows is being weird, not any other programs, really.

Is there some kind of readme out there? I don't really know whre to put the .exe? Where to store the Skins. It kinda works right now (i put the .exe in the Winamp folder and a skin i found on deviant art in the skins folder of winamp, renamed the folder of the skin to Case)

The thing is in the latest releases you can get here there is only the exe in the zipped file, no readme.txt, no standard skin, no explanation to make a skin on your own...

You might want to change that.

Edit:

I can't get into the options dialog or the Skin Manager:

Error 440

1. Install the full beta 9 (with all required files, including a Readme.txt - it's an installer): http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Winam...se/1109367710/1

2. Once installed you can test the last beta 10 build, copying "CD Case.exe" to Winamp CD Case's folder (where the program was installed).

Feature Request

Dunno if you can do this, but I have a new request. Is there a way to make multiple cd covers per cd? Say front of the cd, and then if i middle or left click the picture, it changes to the back/lyric covers i have scanned...this may be very hard to do, so if it's not possible, that's okay...

also, the ability for this could be used for bands that their cd's have multiple versions and multiple artwork.

http://www.demonhunter.net/

this band is a prime example....

image_snake.jpg

image_wood.jpg

image_spider.jpg

3 different versions of this cd in particular...would be cool if you can do this, but if not it's fine :D

I have a little feature id like to sugest (dont know if it would be possible tho).....

Would it be possible to make Winamp CD Case change ur MSN display picture to the album cover that is currently displayed? (you would have to make it in to an option, cos i dont think everyone would use it). I would use it though :p

Hi Carlos, your program is great! I've been using version 8 for some time, and recently upgraded to the beta 10. What a great update to an already awesome program!

I did notice one small thing tho', I usually keep CD Case on my desktop and keep Winamp minimized (since CD Case gives me all the song info I need and I usually control Winamp using hotkeys anyway). However, with version 9 and beta 10, whenever I use the hotkey (Ctrl + F1 for me) to bring CD Case to the front it will bring Winamp up too, even with 'Follow player window state' unchecked. This never happened with version 8.

Very minor quibble, lol. It would be cool if you could look into it tho'. Thanks for all your hard work!

    • Apple announces iOS 27 with no changes to the list of supported iPhones by Taras Buria At WWDC 2026 in Cupertino, Apple announced iOS 27, the next mobile operating system for compatible iPhones. The update focuses on tweaking and improving last year's iOS 26, particularly in areas like app launch time, Liquid Glass design, and more. Additionally, Apple has reworked Apple Maps with a significantly enhanced Flyover view for a much more realistic view. Apple also promises better performance, smarter search, new Health features, new parental controls, and more. The most important part is that iOS 27 is compatible with all iPhones that can run iOS 26. That means that even the seven-year-old iPhone 11 can run iOS 27 (supposedly better than iOS 26). iOS 27 will be available this Fall, with the first developer betas expected later today. You can follow the live stream here.

    • Sandboxie Plus 1.17.7 / Classic 5.72.7 by Razvan Serea Run programs in a sandbox to prevent malware from making permanent changes to your PC. Sandboxie allows you to run your browser, or any other program, so that all changes that result from the usage are kept in a sandbox environment, which can then be deleted later. Sandboxie is a sandbox-based isolation software for 32- and 64-bit Windows NT-based operating systems. It is being developed by David Xanatos since it became open source, before that it was developed by Sophos (which acquired it from Invincea, which acquired it earlier from the original author Ronen Tzur). It creates a sandbox-like isolated operating environment in which applications can be run or installed without permanently modifying the local or mapped drive. An isolated virtual environment allows controlled testing of untrusted programs and web surfing. Sandboxie is available in two flavors Plus and Classic. Both have the same core components, this means they have the same level of security and compatibility. What's different is the user interface the Plus build has a modern Qt based UI which supports all new features that have been added since the project went open source. The Classic build has the old no longer developed MFC based UI, hence it lacks support for modern features, these features can however still be used when manually configured in the Sandboxie.ini. • Ocenaudio 3.19.2 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display. Ocenaudio 3.19.2 changelog: Fixes a crash when starting the graphical interface without a display on Linux Fixes MP3 metadata encoding and ID3 tag writing issues on Windows Fixes a crash when loading audio with autosave enabled on Windows user paths containing non-ASCII characters Fixes a freeze when batch-processing more than 5 files with a 64-bit VST plugin Fixes some conditions in audio mixer Fixes loudness statistics for surround files and Short-Term Maximum Loudness accuracy Other bug fixes and improvements Download: Ocenaudio 64-bit | Portable | ~40.0 MB (Freeware) Download: Ocenaudio for Linux and Mac OS View: Ocenaudio Homepage | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
