Winamp CD Case Beta 8

Recommended Posts

If you're trying WCC for the first time, remember to install the application first.

You can download the full setup here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Winam...se/1109367710/1

After that, you can replace the old "CD Case.exe" for the new build: http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/wccb10.zip

You might want to rephrase that...if the notifier text was completely transparent, you couldn't see it at all!  :p

i mean like this. transparent box, and just text.

Yeah I'm using it too now very nice program.. just have a question how can i get a bigger font size ? and the second i want if I click on a number only CD case to start up .. i mean to restored.. and want to keep winamp in system tray how do I do that??? ... Thanks in advance

I have no idea too...

But some useful tips:

- for bigger font size don't use bold

- try to set the offset color to one that matches the desktop wallpaper and/or a color next to the font color... It's kind of tricky...

- try to use Arial Black for your tests

I got this error a few times today:

post-114481-1133722818.jpg

I don't think I've ever got that before. I'm using the latest beta 10 build, and I didn't actually get it untill I hid the notifier image and right justified the notifier text. It didn't happen immediately afterward or anything, but I've been tweaking the settings at bit today, and it's popped up a few times. The last time it happened was right after it had finished displaying after a track change. Oh, and also, since I hid the notifier image, the notifier text appears on both monitors. I have WCC on my secondary monitor on the bottom of the screen, and the notifier text also appears on the top of my primary monitor (Secondary monitor is positioned above the primary). When the track changes, the new track info appears on top of the last song's text, so it just ends up being a pile of garbled text. Any ideas?

EDIT: Full screenshot added.

Is there any way to share the focus with Winamp? I.e., now you can only choose normal, always on top, or pinned to desktop. Can there be a setting so that it behaves as a Winamp sub-window, so that it shows up when I show winamp and hides when I minimize it? (as if it was the AVS or Video window)

Where can I switch the bold off in text? ... so my fonts look bigger and how can i let font place under my album case .. with less space between them? ... mm it seems that my fonts dissapear after 20 sec .. but I have the 'show them always'on :s .. anyone?...

I hate it that mine fonts are this small and there not exactly in the center :s

Skin Manager >> Text tab >> Line 1/Line 2 buttons

Bold is not on by default, try a different font.

and how can i let font place under my album case ..

What?

with less space between them?

Sorry, no option for that.

What build are you using? If you're using 8, maybe try 9 or 10. If you have it checked, it should work.

and there not exactly in the center

Skin Manager >> Text tab >> Text area postion and size (pixels)

Play around with that untill you get it where you want it. The number in the Top and Left boxes are the number of pixels away from the corresponding edges. In your screenshot, it looks like your notifier text is too far to the right, so decrease the number in the Top box a little bit.

No offense folks, but play around with the darn thing, fiddle with the settings. I know there isn't a tutorial or help file, so I don't mind answering questions, and I don't think Carlos minds, either.

By the way, Carlos...I'm back to beta 9, beta 10 is still freezing sometimes on track changes.

Yochanan,

Thank you for your support!

About the freezing issue: beta 10 has basically two main changes: try to read some Japanese/Chinease folder and Amazon.com service update.

I have made a special version with just the Amazon.com update for you. Please test it: http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/wccb10v2.zip

If you still got the freezing I will take another look...

Finally, the screenshot error is a known bug that I'll have to fix...

Any chance we can get it to open when foobar is opened ??

Also, for some tracks the back of the covers are shown and others i get this message saying that the source and destination are the same etc..

586698318[/snapback]

It's not possible now. But you can set WCC to open foobar...

Source and destination are the same? Can you post a screenshot?

Thanks Carlos, it hasn't frozen yet, though I won't have much time to play around untill later on today. The odd thing is, I was still getting the same error after going back to the beta 9 build. I also got an error when I right-clicked and selected exit with beta 9, something about shutting down. I didn't get a screenshot of it or a chance to write it down. After acknowledging the error, WCC disappeared, then reappeared and would not close.Maybe I'll do a clean install later on.

I just noticed you updated FileForum with beta 10. Could you edit the first post to reflect the official beta 10 release, and perhaps a mod could change the topic title to Winamp CD Case beta 10? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink? :D

Yochanan,

The shutdown issue was not reported yet.

As I told you there were just 2 changes from beta 9 to beta 10.

Anyway, as soon as possible (lots of things to do right now) I'll try to change de fade in/out procedure which is causing the most of the issues as far as I know: while a fade in/out is in progress a crash may occur if you try to move WCC e.g.

If you're having problems to exit try to disable the Player interactions (Options>Player).

Thanks again for your feedback! :)

+insanekiwi,

Does WCC stop working when it is searching a cover? Or does it stops really randomly?

In addition, can you observe what music is playing when WCC stops working? And then test WCC with the same song?

Some corrupted tag may cause WCC to hang, though beta 9 and 10 try to handle this.

There is a known bug with some ID3v2 cover tags that may cause WCC to crash.

Thanks!

The first post needs to be edited. The download link leads to a zip file with one exe in it. I was confused by this until I read through about 7 pages of this thread to find the actual installer.

Now I do have it, it is very nice. To those having problems with it showing the back covers, I had this but only on albums where I have the front and back covers in the folder.

my mp3s are all tagged correctly. some use id3v2. and it crashes when i skip a song or when it searches for a cover. happens both randomly.

    • Signal accuses UK government of using child safety as cover for mass surveillance by David Uzondu Recently, the UK's Home Office announced a sweeping set of proposals to make Britain the "first country in the world" where children cannot share or view nude photos on their smart devices, an initiative that authorities claim will protect children from online predators and combat pornography. In response, Signal believes that while the government must keep children "safe" and "protected," it should do so through social services and education, not by "surveillance, funding cuts, and cover-ups." The company called the plan "dystopian" and warned that it violates everyone's fundamental right to privacy, arguing that scanning on the presumption of nudity will only strengthen the market dominance and data control of giant corporations like Apple and Google. The statement continues by accusing the government of hiding its true intentions under the guise of child safety. Signal argues that the Home Office is building an invisible surveillance infrastructure that remains ripe for exploitation by future administrations and authoritarian regimes. According to the company, this aggressive approach completely ignores the actual needs of young people, such as properly funded schools and mental health services. Tech companies like Apple and Google have a three-month window to implement these mandatory device-level filters across the United Kingdom. If these tech firms refuse to comply with the mandate, the government will pass emergency legislation to force them to comply, threatening massive fines and even going after the CEOs of these companies with criminal charges. The technology will work by blocking explicit images directly on the operating system of all smartphones and tablets by default. This system monitors the device camera and third-party apps to intercept nudity before anyone can upload or send the image. Adults can still view explicit content, but only after completing a strict age verification check to unlock their devices. Several bodies like the NSPCC and Barnardo's praised the Home Office's decision, arguing that device-level intervention stops the cycle of grooming before it starts. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) also supported the policy, claiming that tech companies can implement on-device checks "without threatening privacy or collecting any data."
    • Did you watch the keynote? It is way beyond what is described in this article. Looks interesting. Now it is time for them to deliver unlike what happened in 24.
