i watched the video and i don't know if i like the overall revolution concept or not. :(

heres my problem with it.

i have this huge collection of NES games. I like to keep playing them. but i would not like to re-buy these titles.

this summer i spent $150 at EB Games buying N64 accessories and games. I enjoy the N64 very much so.

now.. i just spent that much on N64 equipment and have so huge of a collection. They just expect me to cough up the cash to buy their games online. I'm sorry but that is innapropriate.

What I believe they should do is have a promotion where we can mail in our N64/NES games and they will add all these great titles to a Nintendo online account. We log in via Revolution Live and we can start playing our NES / N64 games.

I do not want to re-buy all my great titles. I do not want to keep all my old systems (they take too much room). But this idea confuses me.

Well I sold all my old nintendo consoles and the games, and I love the idea. It's not nintendo's fault that you kept the old games. If you have the old games, then surely you have the old console too, play them on that!

Yeah that's 2 million more than Nintendo has. You mention that xbox has virtually no market in Japan, yet it still leads Gamecube in overall worldwide sales. It amazes me Nintendo fans are quick to quote that but don't look on that flip side that proves how pathetic a showing Gamecube has had this generation. Your closest competitor only has 2 out of the 3 markets yet you still can't surpass them in sales.

I believe that it's too early in the race to decide on what system is going to dominate and what system is going to be left in the dust. Yet, watching the Press Confrence this morning, Nintendo seemed to be lagging a bit. All the "Revolution" was, was a black box with a blue LED. On the PS3 and XBOX 360 front, they had technical demos, games, ect. announced for the system. Nintendo only showed this black box prototype. And thats it. I DID however find it awsome that over 20 years of Nintendo content downloadable (i.e. Super Mario RPG on my Revolution = sweet). Yet then I think, big whoop. I can do that right now on my PC or spend a few bucks on an XBOX modchip and do that right now and not have to wait until 2006. Now don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo and it's hardware but they really blew it on the Press Confrence showing. That's great that we've seen SOMETHING, but it's still too early to get excited about it. Also, do we REALLY need another revamp of the GBA? I bought a GBA, I don't need another hash of a now outdated handheld. I'd rather spend the money on DS or PSP software. I know it seems like im just bashing on a company that revolutionized the Video Game Industry to begin with, but I'm not. I guess Nintendo is perhaps keeping quiet on everything. Or do they really have nothing to show at this E3? But like they said on G4, are we really going to care when they FINALLY show us what the controller and finished product looks like in the later months? I dont think so, NOW was the time to get the consumer excited. I believe in a couple months it might just be too late.

I said it's absurd not to support wireless connectivity standard.

I correct myself on the PS3 front.  The specs thread says that PS3 will have the ability to connect to a wireless network.  I suppose now someone will come by and tell me that the Xbox360 has wireless too  :blush:

Nintendo has another game convention in japan, called Spaceworld. I think that is when they will reveal everything.

The biggest problem with nintendo is not its hardware, its not its software, its not their financial status. It's that Nintendo of America is so overly dependant on Nintendo of Japan. This is not the way how it suppose to be. Both branches should have certain amount of autonomy. US gamers are not Japanese gamers and vice versa. Nintendo of America has to appeal and prioritize their marketing of games SOLEY for US market.

Nintendo didn't intend showing much of the Revolution this year. They said so last year. But on E3 2006 they will reveal all the jucy stuff ;)

Exactly. Even though Microsoft had a not-so-sturdy Press Confrence, with all kinds of marketing mistakes, they still had SOMETHING to show us. They had footage of what they were planning to bring and basically saying "Here it is, GO for it.". After watching the Nintendo Press Confrence, I basically said to myself "Okay you're saying this and this is comming, and that you plan to do this and that, but you have nothing for me to run up to my friends and go crazy for." And why should I trust their apparently "HUGE" online front when a couple years ago, Nintendo was firm about believing in the "Neighborhood" experiance? I'm afraid that unfortunately, Nintendo may become the next SEGA, and I'll see Mario on my PS3. I just want Nintendo "Revolutionize" me to the point where I choose their system over the other two.

exactly....Revolution isn't coming out until late next year....why in the hell should they lay all their cards on the table this early....

Microsoft just released 360 info...and its coming out this year....and Sony just released all this info to try and compete with Microsoft....i think Nintendo is being smart in waiting...

sure it sucks for us to possibly have to wait a year for more information, but in the long run Nintendo is making a smart move by not revealing everything this early....

If you are suprised that Nintendo didn't show much you have must have had amnesia for the last 20 years. They are the most tight lipped company in existance and they randomly release information when they feel like it. And I didn't realize the E3 is over yet...

Wow, I agree completely. I was cringing when he pulled out that gba micro. I just thought to myself "how out of touch are they?" Everyone there was probably waiting and hoping for the true next-gen gameboy, but we got a microscopic zilch. Owell, as sad as that was the revolution made me even more angry. They pretty much showed us absolutely nothing, nothing at all. The console wasn't even final, it was a prototype that was going to get smaller before release. I liked how it looked, but since it's a prototype like the first DS was then its probably gonna look different at next year's E3 anyways. So now I have to ask "Why did they even bother?" If they are truly going to do something revolutionary with there games that only their hardware could support then there is absolutely NO reason to not show it now. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are basically finalized and therefore if the revolution is on the hardware level, then I highly doubt that they could copy nintendo. As far as I'm concerned the revolution at this point is a major heart-breaking fizzle. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are offering numerous revolutionary changes to consoles and the games appearing on them. Nintendo seems more like a backwards compatible bleh at this point. I am just so angry at them (since I truly want nintendo to do well) that if they don't show us some games/demos/the final design (I don't care if nothing is in the plastic shell just reveal the real smaller non-prototype design already)/the controller then if it weren't for my unnatural obsession with the Zelda franchise I would avoid the console out of sheer disgust for there business practices. I skipped 2 classes to watch the press conference and quite frankly sleeping in class would have been less of a waste of my time, lol. Sorry, I was just at work all day and I needed to vent some built up frustration with nintendo and their "We keep even boring things secrets so that people don't copy our horrible innovations (like the water pack in mario sunshine that they feared was so brilliant it would be copied)"

So here's hoping that at next years E3 we get some tech specs that are on par with the other two consoles and maybe some tech demoes, and I pray game footage before the games come out (or would that reveal all of the games' precious secrets?). Maybe I should just not know anything about the console until I buy it? (If they revealed the tech specs or anything while I was at work then I take back that gripe, but I am still a mad once nintendo fanboy that likes nintendo even though he plays both other consoles much more, lol.

Edit: I knew that they were going to show us next to nothing. BUT... BUT if you remember the gcn debut they showed next to nothing aswell. Although that next to nothing revealed detailed specs and a reel of demo footage, and the real and not prototype design for the console.

Power has nothing to do with gameplay. Personally, I hate 20 minute cut-scenes. Let me play the damn game! :p

People said the GC was inferior also, and IMO it wasn't at all. Games still looked great and played great.

i kind of agree. graphics dont matter, to a certain extent, as long as the game play is excelleng. some GC games are really fun. but the again, some arent.

Exactly, let Sony and MS fight over who has the bigger package at this E3 show. Then next year before the release, "wow" everyone with whatever they are hiding. Why share the spotlight with two other systems when they can have it for themselves next year? The information about Zelda today was even enough for me, they could have ended it right there for all I care.

I disagree. They needed to show us something. Maybe they were afraid that the revolution wouldn't receive enough time in the lime light if they showed us everything in the same week as the PS3 and Xbox 360 appeared. But I feel that by not showing us enough now, not even as much as they showed of the gcn, that people are just going to lose interest in it. Next year sony and microsoft are gonna pull out the big guns again, and I am betting a barrage of 2nd gen 360 and PS3 games that truly begin to take advantage of what each console offers will prove to be much more competition for nintendo than some launch titles and graphics demos.

All specs will most curtanly be shown at E3 2006. Next year the next next gen console war starts! Iwata said that when we see the graphics, we'll say: wow!. That's enough for me anyway. Revolution will get great titles and offer great entertainment for sure.

Im not saying that Nintendo is trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft. I don't believe that the power of the PS3 or XBOX 360 can fit into a console that is "3 DVD cases" tall. Nintendo has ALWAYS been about innovation. And thats what they're sticking to. Sony said "Spring 2006". By E3 2006, the tech demos and early demos of the new games that are comming to the Revolution will be stomped by the released consoles. You guys are getting me wrong, I WANT Nintendo to do it right. Im sure that's exactly what they are doing, but by next year, Im afraid the hype and anticipation wont be there for Nintendo. I believe next year, the consumer focus will be on software and not hardware. THIS was the year to wow us.

I agree, but that's how I feel about each company. All 3's press conferences have severely disappointed me, and I was hoping this year to be the best (yeah I know, the real show hasn't even started yet). Sony showed basically jack crap when it came to real PS3 games, Microsoft didn't show us anything we didn't know about 5 nights ago, and I was expecting Nintendo to show me a revolution, not just THE revolution.

Next year should be a good one though, as Nintendo will be geared up for launch, and Sony might already be launched and we'll see what's to come (Y)

Some unfortunate stuff is going on with certain PCs from Dell and HP. Dell acknowledged that the SupportAssist bug causes black screens of death, while HP systems are suffering from Secure Boot update issues and boot loops. Both companies issued official advisories. Windows Insider Program Here is what Microsoft released for Windows Insiders this week: Builds Canary Channel Builds 29610.1000 and 28120.2302 This week's "Canary" builds only contain performance improvements and fixes, including the Low-latency mode, which is now available in the Stable channel for all Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 users. Dev Channel Build 26300.8687 Microsoft brought some useful File Explorer changes with this build. You can now open folders in a new tab by middle-clicking them in the address bar. Beta Channel Build 26220.8680 and 28020.2298 Screen Tint, improved Windows Widgets, and other enhancements are included in this week's Beta releases. Release Preview Channel Builds 26200.8728 and 26100.8728 These builds also feature better widgets, new Windows Update controls, point-in-time restore, File Explorer improvements, and more. In addition to new Windows 11 preview builds, Microsoft announced that inbox Windows 11 apps now have their dedicated release notes in the official documentation. Also, Microsoft dropped massive feature updates for six apps, including Paint, Clock, Calculator, Camera, Media Player, Photos, and more. Updates are available This section covers software, firmware, and other notable updates (released and coming soon) delivering new features, security fixes, improvements, patches, and more from Microsoft and third parties. Google has some bad news for those still using MV2-based extensions in Chromium-based browsers, particularly Chrome. The company is now removing flags responsible for Manifest V2-based extensions (uBlock Origin is one of the most popular). However, some browsers resist this change, and Opera issued a statement that it will allow users to continue using MV2 extensions for as long as possible. While Microsoft is still not ready to share new details about MV2 extensions in Microsoft Edge, the company shared important details about the way it will be updating the browser going forward. Now, Microsoft wants to update Edge every two weeks across all platforms instead of the current four-week schedule (only the Extended Stable is exempt from this change). This week, Microsoft confirmed a useful new Teams feature that is coming to the messenger soon. It also detailed all the improvements that made the platform better for users in 2026. However, not all changes are great, as the company is moving ahead with the check-in feature, which many believe will lead to employee monitoring. PowerToys received a feature update this week. Version 0.100 arrived with a big rework for the Shortcut Guide, a new extension gallery for Command Palette, new Dock features, and plenty of other changes. More improtantly for XBOX fans, Microsoft announced the return of XBOX exclusives, with Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution kicking it off. Microsoft also has some good news for Nintendo Switch 2 owners. Minecraft is coming natively to the second-gen Switch, offering better performance and new features, including the visual overhaul called "Vibrant Visuals." Playground Games revealed a 30-minute gameplay video of the upcoming Fable, showcasing combat, action, NPC simulation, relationships, and player choices. Additionally, the studio confirmed a bug with Forza Horizon 6 wiping saves for some gamers. It also had to shut down one of the game's online modes after users discovered an infinite money glitch. NVIDIA announced new games for the GeForce NOW streaming service and a big Summer sale that lets you get 12 months of GeForce NOW for $35 or $70 less, depending on the tier.       Microsoft Flight Simulator's City Update 15 enhances Midwest cities by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The third major city update of the year has landed for the original Microsoft Flight Simulator and the 2024 release. The latest drop is upgrading the visuals and regional accuracy of three metropolitan regions in the American states of Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The 15th city update is adding eight new areas of interest that have been enhanced with high-fidelity TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface texturing in the mentioned regions. The free update highlights Chicago, Elgin, Cicero, and Arlington Heights in Illinois, as well as Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Duluth, Brooklyn Park, Woodbury, Lakeville, Plymouth, and Blaine in Minnesota. In Wisconsin, the development has also upgraded the lands and buildings of Milwaukee, Madison, and Racine. The update lands just as one of the world's largest enthusiast flight simulation conventions, FlightSimExpo, kicks off in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 14. The Flight Sim development team's 40-minute keynote at the event can be watched here. At the same time, Microsoft is bringing the 6-seat, single-engine, multi-use light civil airplane Piper M600 into the game as a part of its Expert Series 2 program. This premium plane can be purchased from the in-game marketplace for $24.99. City Update 15: The United States Midwest is now available in Microsoft Flight Simulator, as well as the newer Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as an optional download. It can be accessed across Steam and the Microsoft Store for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox and PC Game Pass subscriptions. Xbox One, mobile, and PC players can also jump into the new content using Xbox Cloud Gaming if they have a Game Pass Ultimate membership.
