THE NEW REVOLUTION SYSTEM SHOWN WAS NOT THE NEW CONSOLE!!!

my theory since it has 4 gamecube controller ports and 2 memory card slots:

the box shown is only an updated gamecube!!!

the nintendo revolution is in fact a totally different system!!!

Interesting theory. That would be a neat trick to play on E3 people. :woot:

Im not saying that Nintendo is trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft. I don't believe that the power of the PS3 or XBOX 360 can fit into a console that is "3 DVD cases" tall. Nintendo has ALWAYS been about innovation. And thats what they're sticking to. Sony said "Spring 2006". By E3 2006, the tech demos and early demos of the new games that are comming to the Revolution will be stomped by the released consoles. You guys are getting me wrong, I WANT Nintendo to do it right. Im sure that's exactly what they are doing, but by next year, Im afraid the hype and anticipation wont be there for Nintendo. I believe next year, the consumer focus will be on software and not hardware. THIS was the year to wow us.

585936243

how often does nintendo wait until their own version of e3 in japan before they truly unveil their product? your discounting the fact that there is still time for them to show off their wares for the public so dont think that next years e3 is gonna be a tech demo. to me they are on pace to have the hardware out before e3 and not have a tech demo.

Another doomsday nintendo hater.

Hey, I actually owned the Virtual Boy, so don't insult my Nintendo love. I want them to succeed, I want them to overshadow PS3 and the Xbox. But nothing Nintendo has done has made that happen yet. Granted, the release of the systems is still far off, but Nintendo has no hype going for them right now. Other than Zelda, there is NOTHING on the horizon for GCN even when there is over a year left in its life. And if GCN support is gone, why can't we see some Revolution hardware? Show us a Mario demo - that'd get people talking. Start advertising NOW for the free online service. More press releases, more demos, leak information without giving away too much, instead of this "it'll be revolutionary" crap. Don't release a console which is already less powerful than the Xbox, which will be released a YEAR earlier. Don't make small innovations which do nothing for gameplay, then just follow everyone else. They need to do something drastic and they need to do it now, otherwise they've lost the console war a year before it begins.

Interesting theory. That would be a neat trick to play on E3 people.  :woot:

Didnt they already say that the black machine was the revolution?

I dont think theyed call it the revolution then say its the new Gamecube.

If this had anything to do with nintendo marketing I doubt it would have been created just last friday. Someone most likely just grabbed the domain and forwarded it to IGN... very possibly the guy who made the fake video. He's looking for advertise his skills. The more attention he gets, the more he will be paid at his next place of work. He needs as much recognition as possible and buying a domain name for $7 is a cheap way to get some.

Also, if the thing they showed yesterday was a GC replacement, why did it have a full sized loading slot? There's just as much a chance for it to be a complete hoax by nintendo as there is for it to be a GC replacement. I mean, it's possible, he did say it would be even smaller in it's final form... perhaps he was speaking of the slot as well. The odds are just pretty slim.

Yeah, I pretty much said that about 15 pages back. Too bad nobody is reading the "reality" posts :)

Fair enough i went a bit ott, but its not a very practical controller, i think its great that Nintendo is trying to innovate but they dont have what it takes.

585937860

you know what, go hang out in the xbox 360 thread and try to up the post counts there if you are just going to troll after troll comments

i guess "what it takes" is making 23 your old men support a company by trying to advertise a product that you can't even buy yet

hmmm, this sucks..........

May 18, 2005 - The show floor is merely one hour from opening, and no one can see it. The lights are out at the LA Convention Center, meaning that the thousands of expectant industry professionals and analysts are left waiting until power is restored.

Although patches of power exist in the building (the IGN room, where this is being written still has juice), the grid is down on West Hall and the media lounge. Sources state that full recovery could take up to six horus. A similar thing happened in 2000, when the convention center lost all Internet access. We'll shed some more light (ahem) on this story as it develops.

Yeah, you're probably right, but I sure hope you're wrong. It would be cool as hell if all this was true.

It could have been a prototype GameCube from years ago. They could have experimented using different mediums and one of them could have been a DVD drive. Nintendo has stated before that they have various prototypes of the conoles and they choose the one they want to use. Even in the Xbox360 MTV thing you could see how many they went through to get what they wanted.

They never said that. It's time for your bed time.

They said they had several graphical users interfaces (OS software design) for the next gen console, and they will choose which is the easiest for nagivation.

I was tired of reading all this bickering so if I skipped pages.

If this has been mentioned, my apologies.

"Nintendo officially announced today at their E3 press conference that the Revolution will be backwards compatible. Nintendo, however, is taking the backward compatibility to a whole level?

It will be backwards compatible for the GameCube, N64, SNES, and the NES. While you won't be able to insert hard media into the device from N64, SNES or NES, they will make the games available for download."

That said, this three-case thickness only applies to Revolution's "final form", so presumably it's safe to expect prototypes to look rather more chunky.

See the plural in prototypes as meaning more they have more then one.

I like the gratiousness of Nintendo of letting the fans choose which color should be the default launch color of the revolution.

That greenish one looks really modern, but I doubt many would like it.

To be on safe side, probably the best would be either the Silver, Black or white.

The message seems to be that they are opening up the gaming world for people who don't consider themselves gamers. A VR helmet would be a move completely in the other direction.

Time for my veryveryvery long shot in the dark prediction... Perhaps this is both a home console and a portable. The next gen for both gamecube and gameboy.

First of all, it is very small. Even smaller than the prototype. It's too large to fit in one's pocket, but carrying some type of bag/briefcase around is a small price to pay for this kind of portable power. Most people cary something around anyway.

Next, they are stressing the wifi angle, and seem to be implying that it one-ups the compition in this aspect. Anywhere there is wireless internet you can connect to their service. Also, the "controllers" are wireless. So the system itself can remain wherever you're storing it (backpack, messenger bag, briefcase, purse, etc.) That's all the processing hardware tucked nicely away. The only thing a person needs to hold onto to play is the portable version of the "controller," which will contain nothing but a screen and controls. I think that would be pretty awesome. Imagine the PSP without any disc loading or processing hardware... just a thin (possibly oled) and buttons.

So, if you're at home, or at your friend's house... or wherever... you just use a standard wireless controller. If you want to have a portable console, you just buy the portable controller. How much would this cost? A lot less than a portable containing all the other hardware... all you're buying is a screen and some buttons.

Benefits of this? Obviously the stuff I mentioned: actually holding nothing but the screen and buttons, not a large price to go portable. Also, most importantly, no more designing for two markets. Developers create one game and it goes everywhere, and it blows anything found on a portable system entirely out of the water.

Here's a quote I found interesting:

"We would like to strongly support Nintendo's next-generation networking plans," said Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix. "The Revolution may embody a new platform beyond a portable or console, which makes possible a new structure in the network gaming system, changing the ways communities are built and supported. This is the kind of direction we've envisioned, and we will challenge ourselves to provide immersive interactive content in response to what Nintendo offers."

Is any of this likely? Probably not, but it's fun to think about, and hell, it would kick a ton of ass.

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline.
