www.zend.com have some very good php tutorials especially for total beginners.

For people that want to set up a windows server to start web development, I recomend TSW The Saint Wamp. Its an all in one server that has apache, mysql, php5, perl, asp, python, php myadmin and more stuff all preconfigured. It works really well. Get it from sourceforge: sourceforge.net/projects/yawamp/

Yes, I know if two more: Xampp and EasyPHP. Google them. Apparently they have out of dte stuff in them though. EasyPHP has php 4 for example. TSW is by far the best. It has stuff like phpmyAdmin built in which is apparently hard to install on its own. You need phpmyAdmin really for mySQL unless your comfortable either building your own or jus passing sql commands.

May i add The Uniform Server (a.k.a. Miniserver) If you are looking for a WAMP Package with Apache 2, PHP 4/5, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, phpBackupPro, Perl, ... Python, Tomcat, Resin....

http://www.uniformserver.com

It is also small and under 4MB Download size. It is easy to use and mobile. Can be burnt to a CD and also carried in a USB Stick.... :D

It also has more features under development but those are just the basics..

It is also secure, 2ce more than XAMPP or any other WAMP Package ever....

try it out!... :D

PS: Of couse this is coming from me and i am a developer so u will just have to test it out to see for yourself if i am right or wrong... our forums are craling of people switching from XAMPP and other WAMP Packages.... thats my 2cents...

For a good built in validation tool for Mozilla Firefox users, I recommend this extension which updates the Source window with validation help and checkers and displays a counter of errors and warnings. It can also scan for diffrent levels of Accessibility. I've also found it to be a little more strict than the W3C's but it works very well. :)

Fellow PHP coders!

From experience what is the best resource/tutorial for a crash course in PHP to enable me to be familiar with coding in PHP?

PHPFreaks.com seems to be good.
