OPaul
ah, damn, thats what i figured. i don't get speedchannel :( 585995369 CBS will be airing the Canadian Grand Prix in two weeks. But for some reason that I can't understand they aren't airing the U.S Grand Prix....

CubanPete
F1 used to be fantastic, but its gone drastically down hill. Its not about the sport anymore its about how much money the FIA can make hence all the crap tracks now. The new rules are quite honestly stupid:- This whole idea of 1 lap qualifying, you dont do that in any other motor racing so why F1. You cant change your tires... what is that all about! And in my opinion Hockenhein was a brilliant track. In my opinion F1 has gone from an enjoyable sport to a comercial oppertunity, just like alot of other motorsports, The rally for instance, i used to go to the rally when it started in chester and would do some proper stages like the welsh mountains and the classics up in scotland, it was enjoyable to watch. Now they have moved it all to the south and the stages are to be blunt rubbish, one of the most challanging rallys has become below average. Also when i started going when it was called "The Lombard Rally" it used to cost like ?2 to park and that was it, nothing to get on the stage, now it costs around ?10 to park and then about the same to get on the stage. Complete rip off. And now F1 is going down the same route, just spoiling something that was fine how it was! I just dont see the point!
Ryne
Tyre changing was a a recent idea. Back in those "good ol' days" you are all talking about they did not change tyres.
mattmatik
Speed Channel shows all of the races that CBS doesn't show.? Speed Channel races are always live. 585995337 SpeedChannel is a Godsend but the only thing I don't like is they show an insane amount of NASCAR programming. I'm sure they can find something to show instead of "Michael Waltrip's Celebrity Poker". Oh well, at least SC shows AMA and FIM racing. Survey filled out and sent. F1 is fantastic, I really wish there was more exposure of it here in the USA.

Why do they need to keep changing their tires?
CubanPete
its not that they NEED to, its that they are simply not allowed unless an official says so, for safty for example. So all im say is why say you cant, i fail to see why that rule has been implemented, it just seams as though they have made it for no reason. In general teams used to change once during the race. Now for the european grand prix that has just gone rikkonen could have won if he had changed his tires sometime during the race. Im not a supporter of Rikkonen but i felt quite sorry for him, doing all that work then that happening to him, just seams unfair. As for "Everyone on the same field" thats not entirly true, as cars on the Bridgestones are at a disadvantage because the tires take longer to warm up than the Michelin's
stevember
Its not even close to the Senna, Prost, Mansell era.The machines are part driven for the driver via electronic gismo's, safety is over the top and these dumb rules they keep bringing in, one engine, grooves in the tires etc. The qualifying is a farce, i just don't enjoy it anymore.... and would any of the drivers apart from schumacher really cut it with the likes of Senna? 585994422 Senna, Mansell(My Hero) had more electronic help than they do now. Keeping tyres means driver ability needs to be better.

It was part to close the field that everyone complained about before.

They just have to declare the tire at the end of the race unsafe and it needs to be approved. The main reason I like the tire rule is the amount of money it saves. Tires can not be recycled or reused. As for "Everyone on the same field" thats not entirly true, as cars on the Bridgestones are at a disadvantage because the tires take longer to warm up than the Michelin's. 585995954 Yes, that's true right now but that's not a problem with the qualifying, that's a problem with the tire manufacturer. They need to improve on their tire... or the teams need to change to Michelin.
Swashbuckler
I agree that it has gone downhill in the past 2-3 years greatly. MotoGP (Go Rossi!) is so much better at the moment, although F1 has picked up this year. They have made it fairer for the less 'well off' teams so teams like Ferrari can't keep winning race on race, year on year. I don't agree with the tire safety rule as it is forcing teams to push there tires further and make the sport 'less safe' (even though it is extremely safe) even though all there other rules are centred on safety. I just hope they continue to improve it.

The tyres are so advanced now, they can make them last as long as they need.
