That's weird, I know I saw some dev say a card with at least Pixel Shader 2.0 support was needed to even run the game. Oh well, if its working on your system must have been a wonky dev or misquoted :|

CPU = :no:

GFX = :)

RAM = :)

You will struggle with a (snigger) Celeron.

Well, the game arrived in the post this morning and I can only describe the performance as "disappointing". Running on a P4 2.6GHz, Radeon 9800Pro, 1.5GB PC3200, it's just a bit shoddy.

I don't care about the look of the game, it's a PS2 port, so I wasn't expecting new high poly models, high res textures and all the rest of it... But the reason I didn't buy the PS2 version and held off for the PC version was that I didn't want the load times/poor draw distance/low frame rate of the PS2 version.

The load times are fine, the draw distance is reasonable, but the frame rate is very shoddy indeed. Sometimes it's silky smooth, other times it's jumping about all over the place. Considering how basic the graphics are, the game really shouldn't have this sort of problem. I haven't tried turning off the frame rate limiter yet (I just assumed that would cause the game to run too fast), but so far I'm just a little bit disappointed.

I'll still enjoy the game, but it's just a bit irritating that I waited all this time to play San Andreas without the hardware limitations of the PS2, and instead I'm left with the software limitations of the game!

It's "my" not "mah".

And why would you care if you have it on your PS2?

but if you are really interested it should play fairly well.

Pretty much the same for me. I enjoy the game, too. I just thought that Rockstar could do a bit more with it and earn my $40.

I understand that my system isnt super dooper, so I run it at lower settings. What I mean by quality, again and again, is characters disappearing sometimes, I only see their outlines sometimes.

Though, i've found a fix for my system: setting graphics detail on "LOW" and running it at 1024x768 is smooth as butter. AND! it also fixes the sounds. I can once again hear the cars, all the speech (even the ones made inside the car), hoes asking to get some, etc :D.

I think I was also originally annoyed because it felt a little "weird" and I guess too "flimsy" at first, but I think once you play for a couple hours, you get used to it.

Make sure you go AMD

Great. So this guy has to change his CPU, motherboard and possibly RAM, for outdated hardware (AGP stuff) otherwise you gotta get another graphics card to add to that. :rolleyes:

Just get a P4, the FPS difference directly between AMD and Intel is debatable. It will even run okay on the Celeron.

Ofcourse it runs on non Pixel Shader cards, PS2 doesn't even support anything on par with PS or anything, the graphics card on the PS2 is on par with DirectX7 technologies...

If you ran other lame ports of these PS2 series beforet you can run this one, and yes you can on MX cards too.

Do you think GTA: SA will run ok at 800x600??

OS: Windows XP Pro SP2

CPU: AMD 2500+ Mobile 1.8Ghz

RAM: 1Gb DDR400 PC3200

GX: GeForce 4 MX Onboard (Running Dual 17" LCDs) :huh:

Though I've upped the AGP Aperture to 64Mb

Sound: SoundStorm

My System:

Intel P4 3.2Ghz

1024MB DDR400 RAM

ATi Radeon 9800Pro

Audigy Gamer Sound Card

Works beautifully on mine and looks better than Vice City (Not by much)

1280x1024 32

4x AA

Draw Distance Maxed Out.

I think it looks good and I have no sound or graphics problems to report. However it did crash on me and I had to redo two semi-tough missions. :(

Well, I don't know about you guys, but the graphics suit the game fine. Just like Vice City. The guys at GTASanAndreas.net are enjoying the it quite well:

http://www.gtasanandreas.net/screenshots/g....php?image=1888

San Andreas PC at 1680x1050, full visuals, 2xAA

And they reported no sound problems, frame limiter off, 80+ FPS.

Looks great even on a movie theatre screen. :yes:

Anyway, if you can't enjoy the game at all, either:

a) This type of gameplay is not for you.

b) Your PC is causing problems.

c) You're too hooked to graphics to actually tap into the gameplay. :(

However, I do agree with those who already have (and completed) the PS2 version. It's not that worth buying it unless you want the extra features and modification support later on.

Negative, the game will not run on a MX440. That card was specificially mentioned in a recent press release that it will not support it.

Oh really? Then why is my friend playing it on a PIII 933 MHz 384 MB RAM GeForce4 MX 440-SE 64 MB? Looks fine to me.

I will get the game these days along with a new graphics card.If the graphics are like those in GTA:VC, that's O.K. for me, totaly.

I'm sure I could play it with my GeForce2 MX 400 64MB but not to well. I'll get a [ASUS] ATi Radeon 9550 GE (Gamer's Edition) 128MB (128-bit).

Imo the game looks ok...nothing really spetacular about the graphics.

The game play still nice and im happy with that.

But, my pc suffer to run this game.

Its an AMD 3200+, 1GB DDR400, Radeon 9800 Pro.

Im running the game at medium settings at 1024x768.

With no doubt im going to sell all my PCs and get me a notebook, for games ill buy the X360 when it comes out.

Really no reason to keep spending huge amounts of money to play.

Did you see my other post? I said I saw a dev interview posted a few days ago where the MX440 series was specificially mentioned as not being able to work with the game because a Shader 2.0 supported card was needed. Obviously this is not the case, and either the dev was misquoted, or the information I read was out of date or something.
