f_hot.gifGeneral Information

This release is based on the all-new AutoPatcher 5.1. Although it was made with Windows XP SP2 English in mind, it will load on any (English) Windows version, showing only the items which match the running environment. There are also special releases for Portuguese, Norwegian (thanks Corteoz!), Polish (thanks Marcin.Riki!), Greek and Dutch versions of Windows.

Things missing

a. Hacked files
Since I had to work on this release by myself, I decided not to include any hacked files. This means you will not find any uxtheme or tcpip fix. Of course, modules can be done for those later.

b. Messenger Plus!
After numerous posts regarding Microsoft's Anti-Spam finding spyware in the Messenger Plus! setup file, I decided it would be better to remove Messenger Plus! from AutoPatcher. Sorry.

f_norm.gifBitTorrent is a P2P system that makes transfering large files (or groups of files) amongst a large group of people easy, fast and efficient. The BitTorrent network is impressive mostly for the speed and reliability with which you get files that have been recently released. As long as a .torrent file has enough people sharing then you can be assured that it will start quickly and maintain a good download speed. Always remember to leave your BitTorrent client open to help distribute the files!

f_norm.gifRead the FAQ before installing AutoPatcher: v1.1 AP_FAQ_enu_1.1.rtf (made by raptor)

f_norm.gifWith this version, you don?t need to decompress the amp files before using AutoPatcher. Just insert the amp module you want in the specific folder (\addons, etc) and AutoPatcher will take care of it.i>

icon13.gifThis month, the AutoPatcher installer will automatically clean the installation folder before the extraction. This means you will lose any modules you have created yourself or downloaded as stand-alone, so don't forget to save them before you start with the new release.i>

ive no idea where the faq's gone, it buried here somewhere...

as for using it on a spanish version, the answer is no. its do-able, but we need someone to do translating.

if you want to do the translating, check the AutoPatcher Translation Packs thread.

(i should hopefully have an XP translation pack up in a couple of days)

no the patches will not work.

it doesnt matter what language you can read, its what language version of windows the patches are designed for.

the majority of patches included in an english release will only install on an english copy of windows. for a spanish copy, you need to replace the setup files with ones designed for a spanish copy of windows.

To find out how to do this, and any other changes you need to make to create a spanish release, see the link i gave you which will explain everything you need to do.

I have a problem with installing. After I install the files and run the Autopatcher, I get this dialog which you can see in the picture.

I'm not sure what it means. I don't have an illegal copy of XP as I'm using Home on my laptop that came with it. What's the deal?

586091939

the problem is with the modules.

im guessing you installed the release over an existing copy. to resolve the problem, delete the AutoPatcher folder and re-extract the latest release again.

nothing to do with pirated copies of windows, although btw, just because windows was pre-installed on your laptop when you bought it doesnt mean its not a pirated copy that was installed !!!

yes you do

from the first post:

Note: Before installing the June 2005 Full or Lite version, remove any previous installation of AutoPacher (or install in a different folder).
Hmmm.. you sure this is supposed to work?  Installed the May version into a fresh folder and then applied the June light version.  No love, same error.

586092293

The lite version is not an update version

The lite version is standalone, so do not install the Jun over May!

great job once again (Y)

@nw_raptor, I was sitting here at work reading all the posts, and I noticed that a lot of people do not delete the AP folder after they reboot the PC. Is there a way that the files can be automatically deleted once the installation is done, like when Office 2003 gets installed? In Office 2003, once is installed it asks the user to connect to the web and check for updates, or to delete the installation files.

Just my idea

I could not agree more, BUT, I think that there should be a question for users, I sometimes like to start AP in a few days after I change something and/or install few progs, and get a f'ked start menu (i am lazy arse, i know, rather fire-up AP and apply sort start menu than do it by hand...)

Or better yet, question about deleting OLD version of AP prior to installing new version... how 'bout that???

P.S. @nw_raptor, how about june update version, when it will be ready???

It'a a good idea. AutoPatcher would delete the older folder before it decompresses itself.

It won't be a Update version. This month only Full and Lite.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
