Will this AutoPatcher install successfully on my recent new hard drive since my old hard drive got corrupted?

But here's the catch: I had someone to install and all. I never got an XP OS cd since it didn't come with the system like it was supposed to from Best Buy. He installed it with Windows XP Pro and it's version 5.1 (Build 2600) and it didn't even need activation, but I had problems trying to install Service Pack 2 because I didn't have a "valid" product key.

Would AutoPatcher XP install all of the necessary updates on SP1/2?

Please answer this as soon as possible before I go out and purchase a new XP cd from a store.

Contact MS to activate your product, don't need to buy a new cd! You are using a illegal version. Legal versions always require activation and registration.

Concerning AutoPatcher, it doesn't install the SP2. Just hotfixes and other updates pre sp2 and sp2

This is not true I know most OEM versions that come with certian PC's do not need to be activated .

That's because OEMs have activated it before they send the computer. Windows itself requires activation, the end user just never saw it because the OEM took care of it. However, I believe that the majority of OEM systems (at least where I live) are NOT activated.

The key is in an answer file on the OEM manufacturer CD (if they gave you one). If you use the Product Key on the COA sticker, you will get rejected via the online Product Activation. Microsoft has started blocking many of those OEM COA's because people were selling those keys illegally.

when i try to install the autopatcher for the first time , i got one screen which asks about which tweak or patch i want to install ,

is there any recomanded tweaks which i should apply or can i apply all the options , i donno what should i have to do?

is there anything wrong if i apply all the options ?

or i should leave the options tick as it is shown ?

All OEM CD keys are for the certain brand PC's if the key does not match the machine it was meant for it will not activate . if it does not activate a new legit key will be needed .

So blocking it is not needed .

No, it only have all the updates to SP2, and a few to SP1 if they're also for SP2.

because everyone should have already updates to SP2 unless you have a very good reason not to (i.e. you rely on a program that doesn't work on SP2, and it's no longer being developed/supported/maintained), not because you're scared it'll mess things up.

The first version of Autopatcher XP came on the CD included with the October 2004 issue of Maximum PC! The version I got was version 4.x April 2004! It included with the patches more :crazy:like the shortcut target right-click menu item, extra Windows XP powertoys like the wallpaper changer and other toys, and of course "hacked" stuff that you left out like the uxtheme patch! :crazy:

The first version of Autopatcher XP came on the CD included with the October 2004 issue of Maximum PC! The version I got was version 4.x April 2004! It included with the patches more :crazy:like the shortcut target right-click menu item, extra Windows XP powertoys like th:(wallpaper changer and other toys, and of course "hacked" stuff that you left out like the uxtheme patch! :crazy: Oh yeah, why didn't you have an update version for Autopatcher XP July 2005? :(

a. Hacked files

Since I had to work on this release by myself, I decided not to include any hacked files. This means you will not find any uxtheme or tcpip fix. Of course, modules can be done for those later.

      I have a couple to mention, and they still run great on Windows 11 Adobe Lightroom Version 2 Alcohol 120% CLZ Book, Comic, Game, Movie, & Music Collector (PC - No longer sold / Grandfathered in - now mobile apps/online only) DVDDecrypter ISO Buster Pro version 1.9.1 (Still supports HD-DVD too) Nero Burning Rom 8 (Only the burning software, no backup, media converter, etc)   OpenAL (Runtime) - GuildWars 1 Reforged still uses it for 3d headphone audio PowerDVD 12 Ultra SPTD (SCSI Pass through Direct Driver) UltraISO Windows Media Encoder 9 WinImage You can tell I still sport an optical drive

      Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
