Through The Eyes Of The Dead, now thats a metal band! bringing back the old days of morbid angel and at the gates... mix it with a bit of hardocre, there you have it. listen dammit!

To be honest sound much hardcore like bands like Throwdown. But other then that sounds alright. May have to try an album.

Bit late I guess

But I saw Children of Bodom on the 26th in the Astoria in London

Was SO AMAZINGLY GOOD.

ALEXI LAIHO IS GOD.

They were playing with EKTOMORF, who also are a really good band.

Dude Alexi is so freaking insane it blows my mind... Listen to some of the older Children albums because they have kicked ass even more so in the past. But yeah their live show is pretty damn good.. Alexi loves what he is doing and the crowd loves the energy.

Children of Bodom PWN!

I've been hearing a lot about Trivium and I finally gave them a chance. Rather unimpressed really. The vocals are absolute, utter **** in my opinion, so I won't even cover them beyond this.

They do have a few decent riffs here and there, but overall the guitarwork is incredibly uninspired. Nothing fresh, exciting, original etc...none of these words come to mind when I put on Ascendancy.

The rhythm section is incredibly boring as well. The only redeeming quality I can think of when it comes to percussion is some cool double bass here and there...but honestly, what modern metal band can't pull off some sparse double bass? No interesting fills, intricate beats, killer groove...none of it to be found here. The bass is far too low in the mix, though it might as well be, because it wasn't doing much either.

The only reason I can see someone being impressed by this band is having never heard a thrashy styled riff played over double bass. If you like that part, there are plenty of better bands that can do that (Dark Angel! Behemoth! Nile!).

/Me deletes ascendancy from hard drive.

Yeah, I have to agree. I used to like them, but I deleted their album from my PC quite a while ago

What a senseless and abhorrable bastardization. :x

CoB...wouldn't call them bad, but I don't really get into them. They were on the bill with Iced Earth (Saw them play their first show with ripper in fact) and they were kinda fun to watch, but nothing I'd go out and buy.

Now, all I've really been doing is bashing **** in this thread, so for those interested in some metal I do like, here's what I've been listening to recently....

Behemoth - Demigod

Velvet Cacoon - Northsuite

And Oceans - The Symettry Of...

Defiled - Erupted Wrath

Bloodbath - Everything

Sadus - Visions Of Misery

Decapitated - Nihility

Carnivore - Selftitled

Pelican - Everything

Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics, Dopethrone, We Live

Stormlord - Gorgon Cult

Limbonic Art - Epitome Of Illusions

Kampfar - Fra Underverdenen and his Norse EP

Earth - Earth 2

Sun O))) - Black One

Necrophagist - Everything

Demilich - Everything

Artillery - By Inheritance

Opeth - Orchid, Deliverance, Ghost Reveries, Damnation, Morningrise

Ayreon - Electric Castle, Human Equation

Liquid Tension Experiment - 1

Kreator - Endless Pain

Candlemass - Ancient Dreams

Damn, that's a good list of music. :)

Haha you know what dude, that is a good list... Only things i dont have yet are Limbonic Art, Electric Wizard, Candlemass and Aryeon. What do you guys recommend I check out next?

One thing I definately don't like about the new Decapitated are the vocals. They could be worse though....playing is still damn good regardless.

Damm so many people are saying vocals suck but i say there good, no problem with them at all, Dunno why people say otherwise

It's just different than Sauron, that's all. I'm sure we'll get used to it, but I'm not very receptive to change with my music. I don't think most metal fans are.

I've just never been a fan of the hardcore vocal style, with the only notable exception being certain parts to Isis songs.

From what I heard, he does them good compared to other hardcore style singers, but it's just not a style I like as much compared to a more traditional death metal vocal style. It's still good music though.

It'd be like Behemoth incorporating country music or polka influences. Might give them a unique sound compared to whatt hey used to do, but doesn't mean I'll like it. I'm just not a fan of those styles....can still appreciate them though.

I went to the Opeth and DTB show last nite and let me tell you it was an incredible show.

Since Dark Tranquility missed their flight, Akerfeldt said that were probably drunk. He also said they were form the Anus of Sweden lol He's so ****ing silly. Anywho, since the missed the opening nite, Devin played a full set 11 songs about an hour and 15 minutes. And Opeth did the extended set that they are only doing on 3 other dates.

First with Devin. I only started listening to DTB (I have been into SYL first) just recently when I saw they were on the tour, and I dug it a lot. He played 3 songs of Synchestra as well as some of from the others like Ocean Machine (Life, love that song) and a few others. I've always said that you never get a good appreciation for a band until you see them live. That rule applies here, but also to Opeth, I'll get to them in a sec. Devin was just jamming a long and playing some of his cool riffs. Awesome show by him.

Then Opeth came on. They started out with Ghost of Perdition and went from their. Some of the others they played were, White Cluster, The Drapery Falls, Baying of the Hounds, Deliverance, and they played Under the Weeping Moon off of Orchid. Akerfeldt said that they didn't have their effect pedals so they couldn't do the set list from the Chronological Setlist they were gonna do, but it was still an awesome show. They were tearing it up really good too. And of course they ended with Demon of the Fall. This is my third time seeing them, and they have been better and better each time.

    • Free Software Foundation Europe pushes EU to force Google to allow AI uninstalls on Android by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels Users should be able to fully uninstall AI-based features from Android devices and be able to access interoperability functions, free from Google’s verification requirements, the European Commission has heard as part of an Android interoperability consultation under the Digital Markets Act. These measures were proposed by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) last week when it submitted its documentation. The FSFE noted that Google had started silently installing AI models without telling users. It noted that the EU’s DMA requires companies like Google to allow users to uninstall pre-loaded software from their devices, but in the case of the AI models Google is installing, they reinstall if you delete them, contravening the DMA. To get Google back under control, the FSFE has told the European Commission that there needs to be improvements within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). First, it said that users should be able to fully remove pre-loaded AI components from their devices, with companies being prohibited from silently reinstalling or reactivating them. Second, access to Android interoperability features should not be contingent on registration, authorization, or contractual relationships with Google. This pertains to Google’s attempt to force developers to register with Google, even to publish apps to alternative app stores like F-Droid. Discussing its submission, Lucas Lasota, FSFE Legal Programme Manager, said: Google is planning to roll out its Android Developer Certification in September 2026. This will force every Android app developer to register with Google before their software can be installed on certified Android devices, but it should affect those who have removed Google Apps from their device. The program is controversial because it entails the signing of contracts and payment of account fees to Google, as well as the handing over of the identities of developers. It said: The FSFE said that if the Commission’s draft measures remain unchanged, then Google will be allowed to make developers verify their identity. The FSFE believes that asking developers to register is contrary to the text and spirit of the law. In summary, the FSFE has told the Commission that no developer should need a Google account, a Play Store presence, or any agreement with Google to access Android’s interoperability features.
