The Beta 1 news has clearly got loads of new registered members, which is good to see. :)

Enjoy your time at neowin guys.

I didn't get to test Vista Beta 1 :(

Is it true beta 2 is going to be public?

I did all my time hacking dos 5.0 a 12, why the hell would i advance myself to burning a stupid dvd, BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

i do it when i need too, im not a update freak, im happy with technology!, HAHAHA, and you, oh i stumbled across computers at 22, and now i KNOW everything, HAHAH, thats you isnt it, LOL im laughing, a total nerd at 22

Ok this thread moves so quick I can't even begin to keep up.

I think Neowin posted these and then took em back down... so unless we also get hammered, feel free to look at the images here.

Microsoft Expert Zone Featured Communities, like Neowin and PRO-networks were given exclusive screenshots this morning.

You can view those here: Windows Vista Beta 1 - Featured Community Screenshots

So if you've seen those, now you know where they are from... no one showing those shots got them out of Vista, they got them from MS. This is the first time MS has done this.

Another funny thing to note... the Press Release Photos Microsoft released are clearly doctored... and it appears they pasted Vista over all the "Longhorn" build text, which also explains why they all show 5:00 as the time. Kinda funny.

With a signature like that, you should be totally denied access to anything related to Vista... seriously... there is so much more underground coding that has gone on it is amazing. They have totally reworked the OS and have spent years doing it. I think it can only get better from here and I await the "perfect" OS which will be Vista.

I also meant to say that these came out of the "Hive" at Microsoft. I'm sure some if not all of you have heard of it by now. If not: www.InTheHive.com

    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.

    • There really isn't anything magical about the low latency profile, other OS's do this as well. All they're doing is using your CPUs boost clock options in a more smarter way.
