Well, found something ...

@echo off
cd %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\
start rundll32.exe udwm.dll DwmClientStartup
exit

Those commands put in a batch file should enable DWM ... gonna try it out in a minute (have to reboot)

Same here, UXSS does not do anything. My MSI nVidia 6600GT is not giving me any of the cute glass effect. :( Guess we all have to wait until Beta 2 (december).

Vista is nice to look and is fast however as with all betas let the bug reports begin.

Anybody out there with a setup close to mine don't install your nforce2 drivers it will break aero.

Also i've noticed that directsound is screwed or is not finished. Foobar will not play at all even in waveOut and wmp has a hell of time playing an mp3.

After using Vista for several hours, I've got to say everything is pretty good. I had some install issues which were mostly my fault. It's fast, some cool new features. But I'm really looking forward to Beta 2 as many are. If you like, for example, at the early builds of XP and the later and final builds, the difference is almost night and day. I think Beta 1 is a good start, nothing too special, but I think it's a great platform to build on.

Thanks for the updates regarding TweakVista and the batch file. I've updated my blogw with that information. I knew TweakVista was planning to address this, but I didn't know they had released it already! Good job for them. Anyway, if you can't run TweakVista, try the batch file, that should still work. Anyway, I'm off to work for a while (10 hours :s). Once I get home I'll look more into all of this and do some more testing on certain things then do updates on my blog. Keep an eye out there for any new "hacks" to LH :)

Anyone using Vista on a laptop? I have the latop in a docking station, and typically output the notebooks display to an external monitor, with the Function+F4 keystroke. Looks like that keystroke is now gone.

Manually configuring the displays I can get it to output something on display 2, *only* if extend desktop is enabled.

Anyone else see this?

does Vista beta 1 support my SATA disks..

I mean on XP I must load my SATA drivers from a floppy (XP don?t find any drive to install on if i dont do that)...

If not will I have the option to load my drivers from floppy and will they work on Vista?

Driver is Sil 3512 SATA Raid Controller (Ihave a shuttle Barebone ST61G4).

My 2 question is there a list of supported GPU that suppor the new windows mannager?

Damn, you. I'm gettin 30 Kb here.

Not as bad as mine and saxondale.'s luck, the bloody file corrupt, missing some DLL and then it makes BOOTMGR.exe all crazy so we have to repair XP :(

    • Got it. Seem like a good improvement. Thanks. But, before we "Add the source to Trusted Sites," how would know if it is trusted or not? Could get messy for not first Knowing" it is clean. See what I mean?

    • I just started using Teams (and “New” Oiutlook) at work (instead of Slack) and both are truly abysmal pieces of software.
