Hi,

Well I have been invited by Microsoft to download and test Vista Beta 1, but I am a bit worried, I use my computer for MS Office, World of Warcraft ... etc. So will all this program still be compatible if i install windows vista beta 1?

I imagine that the answer is yes , but I just want to be 100% sure, before I make a fool of myself ..

Thanks for the response !

Longhorn doesn't even support Nvidia 6 series grpahics cards :( I couldn't see Pretty effects even if i wanted to!

Looking at the driver support list for the x86 version, Vista does support GeForce 6000 series cards. Many of them. If you want, Ill post the list of the nVidia cards supported that MS provided (6000 series cards). Also, I have a 6800 card, and I am doing just fine. Your card must be broken.

Oh, and if you have the x64 Version installed, there is a list for them too. As well as a new driver out from nVidia that should work just fine for you.

How on earth did you get invited?

None of your business I shouldn't think!! It isn't our place to question how/if people got invited.

Musicroom: The whole idea of the Beta is to find out what is and isn't compatible. if you have a spare drive install Vista on that. It is never really recommended to use a Beta OS as you main OS, unless you find it very stable and compatible with existing applications.

Dougal.

Few questions for everyone who has it installed. Interested in knowing the following:

1) Has anyone tried recent games (Half Life 2, Doom III Battlefield 2) and if so do they run fine?

2) Has anyone been able to get DLink Wireless cards working with it?

3) Are you using it as your primary OS, why or why not

"Install Supplemental Drivers"

Didnt it start on the first boot ? ;)

D:\Windows\System32\DPUpdate.exe -findSource

Run it... It should install the marvell drivers.

I successfully installed Vista on my Silicon Image Raid 0 setup with no problems. It will not let you load the driver from Windows Setup but if you boot from the disk you can load a third party driver from floppy or CD/DVD.

Wow, mine is ultra smooth too and I-m loving it. Not a single crash yet and the glass efect is working.

Running on:

Pentium M Dothan 1.7GHz

Radeon Mobility 9600 Proturbo 128MB

512MB PC2700

Every piece of hardware was detected, well not my modem but I dont care because I never use it lol.

I just found one glitch and I dont know why I cant remove this, it-s floating in front of every window I open

    • I have not verified if any of the fixes mentioned on the below article actually work. Why Claude Code Eats All Your RAM (And How to Fix It) There are at least four separate things that can eat your RAM, and only one of them is your fault. The Four Culprits 1. Bloated Session Logs (The Silent Killer). For 2-4 and more inluding the suggested fixes, see link https://marceloretana.com/blog...aude-code-eats-all-your-ram
    • One of my PC's is Windows 11 Home Edition... and guess what? it supports Hyper-V Disks and Containers, as well as WSL2... which these desktop tools leverage on an as-needed basis. It does not need to be enabled system-wide; it merely needs to exist. Furthermore, I tried something yesterday with Hermes Desktop and their "installer" actually builds everything from source as part of its installer toolchain! The installer (and updater as it were) both go through a roughly 19-step process to prep the system for the tool to be used -- and connectivity to local/remote models, local/remote agent configs, and other steps are not included as part of this process (those are all user config steps post-install). ALSO, the "bug wasn't confirmed to exist" is the weakest argument against a bug. That's literally every flawed product's knee-jerk reaction! Even politicians, lawmakers, murderers, and other violent criminals start with that defense... "I deny everything I'm accused of." The bug is the (shared) experience. Whether it's truly Claude Code's fault, or user error, or some other software package being the ultimate culprit, is not the point. They are experiencing unpleasant side effects and don't like that.
    • Each generaton has its exciting times and I was fortunate enough to be right there at the beginning of the PC industry.   I don't think any of us at that time realized how large it would become I still remember working on a TRS-80 with a green screen monitor that kept overheating and dying.     Also used some TRS-80 PCs with tape cartridge memory.   They worked but boy were they slow with everything being a very slow sequential read or write.  But heh, they worked though it wasn't long before they were repaced by the HDD.
    • One Drive should be a four letter word. First thing I disable on my computer. If I want to upload something to the cloud, I use a cloud base storage, NOT microsoft. Oh but what about backup. I have done backups since floppy disk eras...it just comes naturally.
    • It does just not OneCloud. 🤷🏻‍♂️
