When I boot from cd, I can't even get to the point to do anything, Like I said, boot from DVD, goto windows loading files screen, then the longhorn boot screen and it freezes.

Is there any point where you can trigger a text-based install? Have you begun to explore the possibility of a network install? I'm assuming your desktop installed Vista fine?

So, from what I understand, you're not even making it to the welcome screen. Correct?

What brand system do you have exactly? I've had some weird problems trying to install this build, such as: I had Linux install on my laptop and figured I'd just blow it completely away, but it would do the exact same thing your saying. I used Acronis DiskDirector 9 and deleted the partitions and it worked just fine afterwards.

Vista seems to be rather choosy and i may have gotten lucky on this. A clean and newly partitioned drive using NTFS seems to pose the least problems as long as it was clean when installed. I am in the opposite position that i usually find myself in. This time a windows beta installed for me without a prob and I am trying to supply answers instead of hunting for them. I hope you will all bare with me as i try to help out as best i can. I am looking at all the angles i can to see if there is a common thread here and will stick with it as long as i can.

OK I just deleted the 2 partitions and going to start fresh. Installing XP pro oem on 1 partition, then going to install vista on the other. I had a dual boot with suse and mabey it did not clean up well after I removed it.

I was not able to even get to a welcome screen. It just freezes on the longhorn boot loading screen. It could be something funky going on with my partitions. When I loaded up under XP to start the install there, when I went to choose the partition to install to, it said not available on my empty partition. I assume that may be the problem, who knows, it is a beta after all.

I will let you know if it works or not.

Are u saying it doesn't support Ati cards yet?

I think they will be updating there drives themselves so we may see a CCC for .net 2.0 for vista and bugfixes.

The drivers currently in the OS do not have the CCC nor any opengl files.

So gaming is limited with them.

    • ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE keyboard is 27% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE is currently $159.99 on Amazon, down from $219.99. That's 27% off and $60 saved on a keyboard that combines retro and modern design, while being one of the most responsive and adaptable 75% boards available right now (purchase link down below). The ROG Falchion Ace comes with the HFX V2X magnetic switches that allow you to set actuation anywhere between 0.1mm and 3.5mm with 0.01mm fine-tuning steps. It also comes with Rapid Trigger, a feature that resets the key the moment you release it rather than waiting for a fixed reset point, which makes a noticeable difference in fast-paced games. And finally, an 8,000Hz polling rate should make the response time feel instant. The build quality is decent, with dense plastic and powder-coated aluminum, which is expected from a keyboard at this price point. There’s also the onboard adjustment wheel, which lets you tweak actuation and Rapid Trigger sensitivity without opening any software. For competitive gaming, the ROG Falchion Ace is hard to beat at this price. And those who appreciate old-school hardware, especially those white keyboards we’ve all grown up with, will likely also appreciate the looks of this keyboard. A carry case is included.
