After this is finished, you should consider doing a WindowBlind skin complete with all the LE styles up to this point. Your prolly capable of alot more than what the limited msstyles engine can let you show.

Any chance of the color change in the start menu I suggested a few pages back?

I vote for a WB version too.

yep... therefore giving it the impression that its 1 pixel right... ;)

graphics have a tendancy to make illusions of themselves unless u know what ur doing.

I seriously have no bloody clue why you're bitching about that trackbar.

If you're so picky about pixels, I hope you won't bitch about this extra pixel found in a selected taskbar group item (a common problem in many VSes)

Here is the black startbutton. This will have to do because it's really hard to make a good startbutton.

A couple things:

1. The Windows flag: Should be all white, not the color version in the black style. (the white glow doesn't blend well with the color flag anyway, IMO--just a note for the blue style)

2. The glow: The brightest glow should be tuned down slightly (say to 80% or %90 of whatever brightness you're using now)

2a. Shouldn't the glow logically be dimmest when clicking the button and having the menu pop up, and use the "mild glow" for hovered (but not clicked) mode?

Compare to MCE Royale's start button glow if you don't get what I'm saying.

Great job!

One more suggestion: Would you consider making the tool/menu bars have a desaturated/silvery look (like in MCE Royale) instead of beige? Perhaps not for all the styles, but just for the black style?

Bugs so far:

1. The focused (blue colored) button turns back to beige when hovered over, albeit with a slight white glow in the center of the button. Shouldn't it stay blue-hued while getting this glow from the hover? It makes more sense to just inherit the new hover effect while still clearly showing you this is the focused button with the blue hue.

Bug: The highlighted text color in those menus should be white, not black.

Not sure if this is a bug, but highlighted options in a drop down box dont seem to span the entire length in firefox.

Not a bug. If you're comparing IE (most likely) and Firefox... well Firefox doesn't draw drop down boxes 'natively,' thus they have different sizes.

1. I don't want to make a startbutton that look exatly the same as in all other Vista themes.

2. No, not imo.

2a.

As for your suggestion: Yea, I'm thinking about it. If not for this version, most likley next (4.x).

Bugs:

1. Can't, there only are 5 images to edit. Normal, Hovered, Pressed, NA, and Default Focused.

is there a plan for a thin task bar with full start panel?

and i suppose the scroll bar could also be improved with more gradience, like those push buttons. :)

586452189[/snapback]

* Yea, won't be any compact startmenus in this theme. Only compact taskbar and captionbar. :)

* No, more gradient will look wierd. :p

can i download this vs yet :p:P

this style is looking great :)

Just wait. I'll say it again, just PM someone to mail you the beta if you REALLY need to test it.

1. Awwww. :( Couldn't you at least make it look like a solid color flag instead of having a 3D/shaded look? Just to make it look different and keep with the simple refined look. I'll post a mockup later tonight if you don't get what I'm talking about.

2. Doesn't matter that much, still looks good!

2a. I'll post a screenshot tonight comparing the two.

Bugs:

1. Can't, there only are 5 images to edit. Normal, Hovered, Pressed, NA, and Default Focused.

Edit: Strike that. Now I understand. That's a shame, because it seems like a bug since it's a bit out of place. Maybe do something else with the button schemes so it's not as noticed or something? I guess it's fine if you can't do anything about it. :/

You could always just do it yourself. All you need is an image editor and a copy of Resource Hacker. It's not too complex to take the colour out of a selected area, or you could just copy the start button out of any other Vista-like VS, as em3 says. I like that its different, but I'm using the start button from ..Vector.. anyway.

I also made some other small changes, such as putting the slight light fade back in the systray from LE3, turning the start menu compact, and also making the highlighted and flashing apps in the taskbar have more of a glow effect. As em3 said earlier in this thread, if you don't like something, mod it yourself. He's already put a hell of a lot of work into making this theme bug free while still looking great.

You're missing the point.

And it's not that easy to change the flag on the start button if he applies a glow effect to it. Not cleanly, at least.

Rough mockup follows. Something like this would flow with the theme and not look so out of place:

Compare to MCE Royale's start button glow if you don't get what I'm saying.

Let me try explaining first, then the image:

Start Button's three states:

1. Inactive: Looks normal. The medium of the three.

2. Hovered: Looks glowing. The brightest of the three.

3. Clicked: Looks dimmer. The darkest of the three.

Currently you have it as follows:

1. Inactive: Looks normal. The darkest of the three.

2. Hovered: Looks glowing. The medium of the three.

3. Clicked: Looks bigger glow, the brightest of the three.

I propose that you use the first set.
