amrinders87
Microsoft: No Public Beta 1 of IE7By Nate Mook, BetaNews July 27, 2005, 5:14 PM Contrary to some expectations, Microsoft says Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 will not be publicly available for download. Only invited beta testers and Microsoft TechNet subscribers will be provided access to the bits. The company did not say whether a public beta would follow, and has no timeline for a final IE7 release. "Windows Vista Beta 1 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 are available for support through the MSDN download center. Unsupported access for Windows Vista Beta 1 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 are available to TechNet Subscribers," a Microsoft spokesperson told BetaNews. "There will be no public access to Windows Vista Beta 1 or Internet Explorer Beta 1." Source

Xerxes
Although it's rather annoying that IE7 is a private BETA...but there is a reason for it, it's not ready for the public yet, from what I've heard about it, it's still full of bugs and what not. It's only meant for a limited external beta test to see how it performs in the real world (as opposed to the controlled lab conditions it's previously been in)..once they see how it goes, make some more bug fixes, add more features etc...I'm sure BETA 2 (just like with Vista) will be an open pubic BETA...well that is what I think anyway :)

Harrison H.
Why would they change the way every program has been designed? Have you really ever seen the file edit etc bar below the navigation bar?

Vykranth
Given the thread in the Windows Beta sub-forums regarding IE 7 Beta 1, I would say it's a good thing it's not a public beta version: It is labeled 'Beta 1' for a good reason: it does not seems very polished and finished and Windows Update is unaccessible with IE 7. Will wait for Beta
