Microsoft: No Public Beta 1 of IE7

By Nate Mook, BetaNews

Contrary to some expectations, Microsoft says Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 will not be publicly available for download. Only invited beta testers and Microsoft TechNet subscribers will be provided access to the bits. The company did not say whether a public beta would follow, and has no timeline for a final IE7 release.

"Windows Vista Beta 1 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 are available for support through the MSDN download center. Unsupported access for Windows Vista Beta 1 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 are available to TechNet Subscribers," a Microsoft spokesperson told BetaNews. "There will be no public access to Windows Vista Beta 1 or Internet Explorer Beta 1."

Although it's rather annoying that IE7 is a private BETA...but there is a reason for it, it's not ready for the public yet, from what I've heard about it, it's still full of bugs and what not. It's only meant for a limited external beta test to see how it performs in the real world (as opposed to the controlled lab conditions it's previously been in)..once they see how it goes, make some more bug fixes, add more features etc...I'm sure BETA 2 (just like with Vista) will be an open pubic BETA...well that is what I think anyway :)

Eh, Of course I just downloaded it via torrent (dont ask for a link) but it sucks.. I cant put file edit etc up at the top.. Stupid navigation bar is there then tabs then file.. Not a very well designed ie7.

it's a BETA.

Given the thread in the Windows Beta sub-forums regarding IE 7 Beta 1, I would say it's a good thing it's not a public beta version:

It is labeled 'Beta 1' for a good reason: it does not seems very polished and finished and Windows Update is unaccessible with IE 7.

Will wait for Beta 2

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates. Diagram faster with keyboard shortcuts. draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 changelog: Uses electron 42.5.0 #2452 Updates to draw.io core 30.2.6.
