nX07
Hey everyone, I just exported 223 new Vista icons from the Beta 1 Release! I have put them into 2 ZIP Packages. The first package contains new XP Style icons to what I *THINK* to be new icons for Vista. I say check them all, even if they are not new to Vista, you may have not seen them before! The second package contains new Vista Style icons, this package is very neat! There is a folder in there called "SHELL32", these icons are exported from the SHELL32.DLL File and put in a seperate folder as they are the main icons, and what most of you are probably looking for. I am an icon freak though so I exported all I could find from every file in the System32 folder! I reccomend you download both and view all of them! There is some really neat ones in there! ZIP Package #1: (466KB) http://www.en-force.net/downloads/VistaEx1.zip ZIP Package #2: (10.1MB) http://www.en-force.net/downloads/VistaEx2b.zip ---- IconPackager Pack I've done a quick package which is located here: http://www.en-force.net/downloads/VistaPack.zip Feel free to edit em' all up and replace ones I may have missed, I did it quite quickly as I have to get ready for the nite out' Tomorrow I'll go through other files and such where some icons might be if anyone doesn't do it by then. Ksaads' I.P. Pack based on the ripped icons: http://www.en-force.net/downloads/WinVista_B1.rar I personally reccomend' Ksaads' release, it seems more complete than mine! ---- Enjoy! The downloads should be fast too, I put it on my quickest serv. (I DLed/ at 600KB/s on 5Mpbs) ----------------- If there is any display problems, let me know! I've tested many of them and exported them all the same, so all resolutions/colours should work. (256x256* > 16x16) (2bit colour* > WinXP Colour) * If applicable. ------------------ edit Missed one, its a new notepad icon hehe. notepad.ico Edited July 31, 2005 by nX07

dmp3
I really don't like the way the new icons look, compared to the XP icons. The new icons are more crystal like. The XP icons were more softer, and easier on the eyes (not that i'm old though) ;) Thanks for the icons.

Joey992
Is there a reason why MS never updates all of their icons? I mean at least update some of the ancient ones. These new ones are decent but I just don't feel like it's enough for such a huge release like Vista. EDIT: Thanks for the upload though.

jdb264c
Thanks for a great job! Guess I'm too used to GANT, these icons really doesn't make it for me, especially the folder looks, everything looks really ugly and boring. On the other hand though, why care/complain if you can still change everything...

I hope they are going to change old win95 icons. Edited July 30, 2005 by klop
M118LR
I don't know if these files are still found in Vista or not but how about explorer.exe and mydocs.dll. Both have new icons in them. They are in 5048 so I would say they are in Vista and the Icons from 5048 work in XP.
nX07
Yup, they are in there :) I did extract the icons out of explorer.exe as well (even though it was not in the sys32 folder) and mydocs.dll :)
klop
What program do you use for extracting icons? For some reason I can't open or edit some of these icon...
