thejohnnyq
All real beta testers know when it will really expire, and there is no way it would be 12 days. Start - Run - winver
98XT
According to my version, September 2006.
NeoSigma
I've heard 30 days. 12 days would seem a bit short don't you think. Welcome to Neowin BlackCat! :)
Hiiragi Tsukasa
15 days to activate it and 6 months to use it.
Fred Derf Veteran Posted August 2, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 2, 2005 You have a limited time to activate it and then a reasonably long time to use it. This should have been made clear in your beta kit. Activation should not be a problem for anybody who is part of the MSDN or a registered beta tester. Monotech
Thanks to ms release notes and PhileySmiley for this info: Activation What This Feature Does: Activation is aimed at reducing software piracy as well as ensuring that Microsoft's customers are receiving the software quality that they expect. Activation means that a specific product key becomes associated with the computer (the hardware) it is installed on. After that happens, that product key cannot be used for activation on other computers. Information Collected, Processed or Transmitted: During activation of this pre-release software, product key information in the form of the product ID, plus the product key itself, is sent to Microsoft along with a hardware hash (a non-unique number generated from the computer's hardware configuration). The hardware hash does not represent any personal information or anything about the software. The hardware hash cannot be used to determine the make or model of the computer, nor can it be backward-calculated to determine the raw computer information. Use of Information: The information is used only to confirm that you have a licensed copy of the software. Choice/Control: Activation is mandatory. If you choose not to activate the software, you cannot use it after the grace period expires.
