Rob2687
There's a little thing right at the base of the tail fin that looks like a flame on the infrared camera. From the regular camera it looks like smoke or steam or something.

bigbluepride35
Wasn't that parachute? 586350002 This is in front of the back fin. I'd expect the parachute to be behind it. What are u guys talking about? 586350008 If you look at the camera on it now there seems to be something flapping or reflecting right near the back fin on top but it looks like it's in front of it. I was just curious. I'm sure it's normal or people would be a bit panicky right now lol.

And it was there before they started venting the amonia so I didn't think that was it.

SuperJediMedia
Do you have to have experiences of flying aircrafts (planes, Jets) before you are pilot of Space Shuttle?
GrimReeper
Yeah that rear thing that kinda looks like a flame as adonai said is exhaust for stuff. I wanted to watch come out and walk all funny. Pitty they have to stay in there for a hour while safety crews check for rocket fuel leaks and stuff. I'm glad they made it back. They said the media wanted to delay again for a day landing but NASA wouldnt let em or something. Any near its landing path hear a sonic boom?? GrimReeper
I dont know about now. But this is what it says in Wikipedia. "The first astronauts, both in the USA and USSR, tended to be jet fighter pilots, often test pilots, from military backgrounds. U.S. military astronauts receive a special qualification badge, known as the Astronaut Badge upon completion of Astronaut training and participation in a space flight." Geo
Yeah, you have to start really early on if you want to be an astronaut, that's if you even get selected I think... you can't just sign up.
