*blames fred for all his bad actions*

Oh, right. Here it comes. Something goes wrong in your life blame Fred. (paraphrasing Spike from Buffy) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118276/quotes

Although maybe this is better:

Nitz: I can't help but think that in some small way we partially responsible for what happened today.

Rocko: I blame Cal. It's all his fault.

Nitz: Cal? Why? What did he do?

Rocko: I don't know? The guy's just a wad.

Eventually, I think most of you will be happy with the final product.  Until then, you just need to wait and trust us that it will be better than 3.9 (trust me, it is not a step backwards).

I've never doubted you before... except for that time you told me to play catch with an 18-wheeler. Ouch.

j/k

Beautiful revamped logos, Flishfun (or could I call you Jason?)!

Ain't ya'all going to leave the current style in place to be used as such as Classic 2, like you do to the old style that is still selectable from the drop menu below each forum page. Some of us are slow adopters so it would be great to be able to change between the current style and then the new style so we get to know the new style a bit at a time.

Back on page 32 fred had said sometihng about them monitoring things and such and about if people didnt like it they would make this skin available as a choice.

He edited it saying it wasnt factual but doesnt mean it wont happen. I would bet what will happen is the new one will launch and then bugs etc will be changed. I bet they are skinning the new board based on 2.1 so they might have to do some changes to the current skin

It was something else that wasn't factual. I mentioned Flish when I should have said Neobond. Flish corrected me and I edited it.

Yes, we did keep a Neowin 2 skin when we moved to Neowin 3 so it is entirely likely that we will keep one or more Neowin 3 skins.

Its already on the frontpage, looks really nice. How do you like it now ?

lol Thank you. The news team needed more "News buttons" and I didn't have the PSD for the old, and since the new logo and such is coming, I just redid them all and added the new ones (so they all look the same). Didn't think anyone would notice so fast (as I just uploaded them last night... ).

@mr.roberts - Unless something changes, the Neowin 3 skins will still be available to choose (along with Classic), so if you decide you're not a fan of 4, you can always go back.

@Andre - This was the old one:

I think the new one is easier to read, smoother, and stands out better on the main page (that's kinda what I was going for). Then again, everyone has their opinions of what they like... so I don't expect everyone to love the new stuff. ;)

:ninja: :p

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't it just removing the "neowin.net"under the current logo and making it circular?

586420620[/snapback]

Nope... there's been more done to it than that (different style, more of a circle, than the current logo, etc). Here's a side by side of just the logo portion (same size)... Old on the left, new on the right:

post-21616-1124819495.png post-21616-1124819517.png

All I did to the old was resize it and cut out a circle... the logos are quite similar, and that's on purpose, as I said before, we have our branding to think of. ;)

Well i thinks thats a perfect idea, this way even if people do like the new design and the all around new changes, we still have the choice of choosing something different from time to time. I don't know about everyone else, but i really do appreciate this piece of comment by Mr. Fredd... :p

    • Google Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving for OpenAI by Pradeep Viswanathan Noam Shazeer is best known as one of the co-authors of the 2017 “Attention Is All You Need” paper, which introduced the Transformer architecture that now powers most large language models. He also worked on several major Google AI projects, including LaMDA, before leaving the company in 2021 to co-found Character.AI. He also authored the Sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (2016) paper, which is popular among the AI community. After falling behind OpenAI and Anthropic a couple of years ago, Google brought Shazeer back in 2024 as part of a major deal with Character.AI. Through this deal, along with Noam, several other researchers returned to Google DeepMind. More recently, he was a vice president of engineering at Google and a technical co-lead for Gemini. Today, Noam Shazeer announced on X that he is leaving Google and joining OpenAI. In his post, Shazeer said it was a difficult decision to move on, adding that he was proud of the Google team and what it had built together. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman welcomed the move with a post of his own, saying Shazeer was one of the people he had most wanted to work with since OpenAI’s early days. Google has made strong progress with Gemini over the past year, closing the gap with OpenAI in several areas. But losing Noam Shazeer is a major talent setback for them, especially after bringing him back less than two years ago by spending a fortune. For OpenAI, the hire adds one of the industry’s most experienced language model researchers to a team that is already pushing ahead with ChatGPT, Codex, and its next generation of frontier models.
