A huge blow to Messenger Plus!

Just posted by Patchou in the Msgplus forums:

Hello,

my friends, I have sad news. After several emails sent to various sections of Microsoft, the Microsoft Anti-Spyware problem that currently plagues Messenger Plus! has not been solved. This particular branch of Microsoft seems to persist in denying the obvious truth which is that their software is damaging some of their users' computers by detecting Messenger Plus! when the sponsor is not installed and by reporting&deleting files they have no reason to detect in the first place.

As I do care about my users myself, I have decided that the only proper and peaceful way (meaning, outside a court of law) to solve this matter was to create a special petition. This petition describes the problem in details and I encourage all of you, supporter of Messenger Plus! or not, to read it in details and to not jump to conclusions. My only wish is for Messenger Plus! to be treated as it ought to be, nobody should tolerate anti-spyware programs that create a mess on computers in the name of "protection" anymore. This is not about removing advertisement, this is about arbitrary assigning threat levels to products that should be left alone.

Please, read and sign the petition and send the link to all your friends, the very life of Messenger Plus! depends on it as well as the future of software distribution rights (yes, nothing less).

Thank you,

Patchou

    • I spent a good 15 min today trying to get new Outlook to use my default browser instead of forcing links into Edge. That kinda tactic is shady and it sucks.
    • Vivaldi 8.0.4033.42 by Razvan Serea Vivaldi is a cross-platform web browser built for – and with – the web. A browser based on the Blink engine (same in Chrome and Chromium) that is fast, but also a browser that is rich in functionality, highly flexible and puts the user first. A browser that is made for you. Vivaldi is produced with love by a founding team of browser pioneers, including former CEO Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, who co-founded and led Opera Software. Vivaldi’s interface is very customizable. Vivaldi combines simplicity and fashion to create a basic, highly customizable interface that provides everything a internet user could need. The browser allows users to customize the appearance of UI elements such as background color, overall theme, address bar and tab positioning, and start pages. Vivaldi features the ability to "stack" and "tile" tabs, annotate web pages, add notes to bookmarks and much more. • Also try installing an alternative browser on ChromeOS. You have to enable dev mode and run it as a Linux app. Clunky.
    • sometimes in older bios' you had to set a password in order to change the csm settings
    • I've enjoyed Firefoxx64 DE for many years, and Edge doesn't tempt me, and I stopped using Chrome long ago--far too many bugs.
