Two days before the start of Professional Developers Conference (PDC) 2005, I received exclusive insider information about the product editions, or SKUs, which Microsoft intends to create for Windows Vista (codenamed Longhorn). While the exact breakdown of the Windows Vista editions had been the subject of much speculation, this list closely matches the editions list I first published on the SuperSite for Windows last year. Here's how the Windows Vista product editions break down, according to the latest internal Microsoft documentation.

Sorry but I think this is one of the most rediculous things ever done by Microsoft, why couldn't they keep it like it is with XP, Home and Pro. Simple, easy to tell the difference between... why not with Vista?

They market this under "Bringing clarity to your world" like hell is this bringing clarity to my world, and if it isn't bringing clarity to mine then it sure as hell isn't going to bring clarity to the average home user, thats for sure.

hah yea clarity my ass, the only thing clear here besides the windows is the fact that ms has wasted tons of money on a modified version of xp. i will buy it simply because i like my pc to be the best but like hell if i will use it as my main os. this is a laughing stock. i mean really xp was much better in terms of what to get, you have home for home users, you have professional for pro users, and you have your different versions for specific devices. simple. this is gonna confuse the hell out of people.
