this isn't a matter of opinion. it's pronounced GIG A BYTE, not "jegabyte", "gegabyte" or whatever. giga's not the only prefix used when it comes to measurements in bytes. it's also used for other measurements when dealing with extremely large quantities. you don't pronounce it "jegahurtz" or "jegaflops" do you? dear god i hope not because you'd sound completely ridiculous if you did.

Looks like you're both unique and the kind of person who'd try to plug a pair of headphones into a toaster ;)

My physics professor always fussed about how everyone pronounced, and even gave an entire lecture on GHz and GB. He said the correct pronunaction (I can't spell) is Giggahertz and Giggabyte. Like "getting jiggy with it"

Phonetics are a tad different.

Anyway, if you look here you will see it can be pronounced either way. (If you change the "e'"s to "i'"s of course...) In fact, it states the "jig-" way first.

I pronounce it gig-a-byte

So Jiggahertz?

SO WHY THEY DONT CHANGE ALPHABITISM PRONOUCATION to the new generation : transforming the G to a G pronouction not a J something like :

A

B

C

D

E

F

G >>> Gee

H

I

J >>> Jee

Ok?
