i hate the look of the new GUI  , it looks terrible :x

i think office 2003 had the best GUI

trust me, take the time and this new GUI isit hard at all, infact it is made to avoid confusion. Most of the common buttons are now placed right in front of you so you dont have to look through menus and stuff.

Once you try it you will get used to it.

Way too cluttered for me, y'all. Means it's time to give the office suite a "Firefox" treatment of getting rid of all that nonessential crap and let users add only what is necessary!

Then again, I'm kind of liking AppleWorks to tell you the truth.

The whole point of the ribbon is to eliminate clutter and complexity while not removing access to any of the features in Office.

And how can anyone possibly compare AppleWorks to Microsoft Office? Microsoft Works maybe, but not Office.

I could be wrong, but does it look like they have overhalled all the GUIs except for Outlook?  Outlook looks almost exactly the same as 2003 but all the others look new and imporved.  Then again I could be wrong.

As was vaguely mentioned before in someone's post. Outlook 12 in fact isn't going to get much of a face lift according to the interview I saw on Channel9 and according to the PDC demo. They said they only part of Outlook 12 that would see the ribbon will be on the email composition screen...that will have the same Write, Insert, etc like Word 12 has. Again, I could be totally wrong, but that is what I remember hearing.

What I want to know is why us PC users always get ugly, cluttered UIs whilst the those lucky enough to own Macs get:

Microsoft made this for OS X, so why not use the same template for Windows?

It's so much neater & aesthetically pleasing. Plus, it doesn't open maximized by default. Why the hell do we always need everything maximized?

Oh I hope you were kidding. The OSX interface is pathetically basic compared to the possibilities the ribbon will enable. After you try the ribbon and really get into the different products (Word, Excel, PPT, etc) you'll see how accessible all the powerful features of Office are now. It really is quite eye opening to see the difference in trying to find a given feature in Office 2003 and then in Office 12. Microsoft is onto something here...

    • I asking where you are from or live, because if you don't live in the U.K, why are you so bothered? That is another reason I voted out, E.U and people poking their noses in where they should not be. Sadly we still have it, Trump, and his cronies. Putin as well and no doubt others. It makes no difference what we believe, if we made the right choice or not, we are out. As I said to someone when the news first broke we have voted out, we just need to make the best of it. I have no problems with closer ties to the E.U, we still need to trade. Just don't want to be in their club.
    • So you think I voted out because i am anti-immigrant. I am fed up with those that come over and think that we owe them something. The ones that are at the moment coming over from France where they are already in a safe country because they think and no doubt will get everything chucked at them. While people who were born and bred here get very little. I have nothing against as i have said before those that come here and work. In fact I know full well that our NHS would struggle without them. I do have a problem with those that come over here and try to push their religion and their way of life onto us. My reasons for voting out was because of what the E.U is and is also becoming. I did not agree with Freedom of movement, not because I don't want people over here, but because people need to be checked before being allowed to cross borders and that goes both ways. But my main thing was because the E.U is becoming if not already a united states of Europe. The only reason countries like Poland and Romania joined was because they had no money. When my partner left Poland, she had nothing, Poland had nothing, that is why she left. Wanted to learn something and earn a living. The E.U would have us back according to Michel Barnier. https://www.euronews.com/my-eu...ator-barnier-tells-euronews Why are you so scared to say what country you are in?
    • I wonder what that line really meant...
