Makes sense, altho I doubt 10.4.3 will be the first public released Intel version.

very doubtfull as well, it's not a horrific code change that needs to be done as you can already hack OS X to run on x86 but chances are it's going to be big news when it's done.

God forbid you have a few files in your Trash on a restart. :p

Fact is that something wrong is causing this and it should have been fixed 6 months after Tiger's release. And yeah it's annyoing.

So God/Apple should forbid it. Take a pick, I don't really care as long as the job gets done. Altho help directly from God would probably be more effective. ;)

Have you looked to see whats inside it? when they show up for me its from sending images back and forth from people over iChat.

The update hasn't introduced any new problems...it hasnt fixed all of them either though.

I read through the release notes as I was downloading (I had the 98MB updater) and was glad to see that a few problems I was having were listed on there.

I WASN'T happy to find that they still haven't cleared up the logging in from sleep issues. Sometimes I don't even get the password prompt, sometimes i get it two times before it lets me in...its kind of retarded ;)

Is anyone running FrontRow on 10.4.3? Does it work as it did before?

mine didnt work so i got rid of everything related to it, then just reinstalled the stuff, aka just the app, xkeys and the airclick mod and used a new modified script for 10.4.3 to launch and well last night i enjoyed laying in bed watching south park and controlling it all with my remote. good stuff, lol. DVD's still don't work though...

Same here, the booting time is longer.

The second "Mac OS X" bootscreen has become kinda pointless in 10.4.x  don't you guys think? More of an eye-candy thing than a requirement.

Considering it's just a movie of a progress bar now instead of a real progress bar, yes.

Actually, it's just giving you a graphical front-end to the startup of core system services like the Apache HTTPD and other UI/networking daemons. While it doesn't show you each individual process like it used to in 10.3, it's still doing the same thing.

In that case it isn't pointless. I was under the impression that is was just eye-candy in 10.4.

I wanted to know this for a very long time:

What does "Keep Item Visible" do when right clicking Safari's Address Bar?

586791569[/snapback]

When you make the Safari window small enough, horizontally, buttons start dissappearing to allow more important items in the bar to show. You can override this behavior by checking "Keep Item Visible."

The boot load bar has been changed. when you boot up it times how long it takes then edits a file, the next time you boot up it accesses that file and looks how long it took then makes the load bar appear the same amount of time. If your computer now boots faster then the last time it executes a terminal command to quickly end the loader.

it is absolutely useless.

You can even run the boot loader inside OS X without booting up and view the little "movie" or edit the file yourself and make the loader appear for a million years - bet that would be fun next time you boot up. The malicious uses of it are endless.

Precisely right. It is utterly pointless now, but I'm glad that I rarely see it, being one of those inclined to leave my Mac on for months on end (thank His Steveness for Sleep Mode).

    • Still using Classic Outlook? Microsoft highlights 15 reasons to switch to New Outlook by Usama Jawad As many of you may know, Microsoft has been trying to get customers to ditch Classic Outlook in favor of New Outlook for quite some time now. To that end, it has added numerous capabilities to the latter, including PST features, and it is working on several more, such as a unified inbox. However, customer response has been a bit lukewarm so far, with many considering the New Outlook to be "hot garbage". Now, Microsoft has highlighted 15 features that users can leverage in New Outlook in yet another attempt to get customers to migrate. Although not all of the 15 capabilities are exclusive to New Outlook, in fact, most of them are available in Classic Outlook as well. But Microsoft hopes that this combination of familiar and fresh features will be able to attract existing users as well as new ones. For ease of readability, we have summarized the 15 features below: Pin an email: This makes it easier to track important emails Snooze an email: You can temporarily snooze an email thread for a specific time frame until it becomes relevant again. This can be very useful in scenarios where you don't feel like actively following a thread or simply want to follow up on a later date Add multiple categories at the same time: You can assign multiple categories to an email through a single, simplified interface Sweep: As the name implies, you can define automated move processes on your inbox to declutter it, rather than cleaning it up manually Schedule send: Does exactly what it says on the tin, and can be useful when accommodating recipients in different timezones Simplified folder sharing: The sharing process has been simplified so permissions are automatically applied on parent folders Follow a meeting: This is an RSVP option that lets people know that you won't be able to join the meeting but would still like to access a recap Save calendar views: You can save different views for the calendar based on different workflows Improved meeting tracking: Organizers have more controls in viewing meeting responses, such as the ability to sort and download them. Typically useful when there is a large audience Meeting recap: The Outlook Calendar surfaces a meeting recap with recordings, transcripts, and shared files Filtered views: Allows you to declutter your Calendar so that it's easier to scan and schedule Change a recurring event: Users can modify future events of a series of meetings while preserving the configuration of previous ones Rename your email account: This labeling makes it easier to identify multiple accounts in Outlook Modern themes: Exactly what the name says, plus Dark Mode Keyboard shortcuts: This facilitates flexible user behavior as customers can choose between Outlook for Windows shortcuts, Outlook for the web, or turn them off completely There you have it. It's a decent list, but it remains to be seen if it will move the needle in a meaningful way for users who are attached to Classic Outlook. Again, a lot of the aforementioned features are already available in Outlook Classic, but for some, native functionality is not present, and people typically resort to workarounds. Microsoft will be hoping that it's primarily those capabilities that get people to finally switch.

    • LibreWolf 151.0.3-1 by Razvan Serea LibreWolf is an independent “fork” of Firefox, with the primary goals of privacy security and user freedom. It is the community run successor to LibreFox. LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM. LibreWolf features: Latest Firefox — LibreWolf is compiled directly from the latest build of Firefox Stable. You will have the the latest features, and security updates. Independent Build — LibreWolf uses a build independent of Firefox and has its own settings, profile folder and installation path. As a result, it can be installed alongside Firefox or any other browser. No phoning home — Embedded server links and other calling home functions are removed. In other words, minimal background connections by default. User settings updates Extensions firewall: limit internet access for extensions. Multi-platform (Windows/Linux/Mac/and soon Android) Community-Driven Dark theme (classic and advanced) LibreWolf privacy features: Delete cookies and website data on close. Include only privacy respecting search engines like DuckDuckGo and Searx. Include uBlockOrigin with custom default filter lists, and Tracking Protection in strict mode, to block trackers and ads. Strip tracking elements from URLs, both natively and through uBO. Enable dFPI, also known as Total Cookie Protection. Enable RFP which is part of the Tor Uplift project. RFP is considered the best in class anti-fingerprinting solution, and its goal is to make users look the same and cover as many metrics as possible, in an effort to block fingerprinting techniques. Always display user language as en-US to websites, in order to protect the language used in the browser and in the OS. Disable WebGL, as it is a strong fingerprinting vector. Prevent access to the location services of the OS, and use Mozilla's location API instead of Google's API. Limit ICE candidates generation to a single interface when sharing video or audio during a videoconference. Force DNS and WebRTC inside the proxy, when one is being used. Trim cross-origin referrers, so that they don't include the full URI. Disable link prefetching and speculative connections. Disable disk cache and clear temporary files on close. Disable form autofill. Disable search and form history...and more.
